Default Dont have a clue...need some direction

So I have a PS3, no surround sound yet. Does it matter what my PS3 settings are right now in terms of getting the most out of my blu rays?
Also, I want to start looking for a receiver and speakers to get the surround sound started. What should I be looking for in a receiver? I am an enthusiast, but dont need state of the art. Just loud and enjoyable =)
Thanks in advance for help

If it is running directly to your TV then I do not think it matters as you hearing it through TV speakers. Once you get a receiver than that's a different story.

It's the 789. I bought it back in Jan when Circuit City was going out of business and I picked it up for $350 which was a steal. I love my Denon and I also have a Yamaha which rocks as well. Both have 3+ HDMI 1.3 connectors, decode True HD & DTSHD, are 105w at 8ohms (I think thats right) and both had great reviews. Those are the main reasons why I bought them.

Best advice it look around and get some ideas from the forums and take a look at other peoples HT. That how I got some of the ideas for the TV setup I have.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment.

That was a good deal, I thought I had a nice deal when I paid $400 for mine this past March. Since they have newier model's now, I have seen the Denon 789 as low as $330 refurb. I have that one in my bedroom and It's a nice receiver, perfect for that room. It's only 90w per not 105w.
