I am thinking of picking up Romancing the Stone for my wife and I to watch -- for a date movie, and also cause I loved the movie when it came out.
Blu-ray reviews are so-so... Does anyone like this one on Blu? Thanks for your recommendations! |

Romancing the Stone can be compared to the quality of a catalogue release like Poltergeist, a really good transfer with good detail, good grain, good colour, etc. and a few soft looking shots for good measure, but those are in the minority and most likely inherent to the source. All in all no reason not to pick this one up.

There is a part where they swing across a river on a vine, and he doesn't quite make it, and hits the rocks, and they move because they're made out of rubber..... pretty funny stuff. Anyways, if you enjoy the movie, in all it's 80's cheese......then there is no reason not to jump on it at a good price. |

just watched this one this past week-end-- it's an 80's movie so it's not going to look like Chronicles Of Narnia--
but it had some strong colors, several scenes were exeptionally clear and vibrant-- other scenes were grainy (as it was in the theatre). Overall a very good transfer and worth buying if you like the movie ![]() |

For a catalog title, Romancing the Stone looks and sounds great on Blu-ray. The PQ and AQ were very strong, and some scenes do show a little grain, but not too much. The special features mirror those that were on the special edition DVD, so no hi-def content there. But still, the PQ and AQ alone is all the more reason to pick up Romancing the Stone. This is one of my favorite movies ever made, and I, for one, am proud to have this in my Blu-ray collection. Just make sure not to get the 1985 sequel, The Jewel of the Nile. That one tried - and failed - to capture the magic that Romancing the Stone had in 1984.
