not even sure if its worth making copies of blus these days.. i hear theres like some crazy detection method the companies are using with it that diff from dvd. plus watermarks on disc for verification etc. how can the player tell if you own the disc or are just pirating them. can anybody shed some light on this stuff?

I don' think you can truly back up a blu ray. These would be more useful for data storage if you have a BD drive in your pc.

Might be worth it for me since I finally got my HD Camera. For Screener purposes. But, just like with DVD-Rs, there's always the possibility of the disc being nothing but a coaster.

Well this thread it's not about making illegal copies... but to let people know of a good deal on BD-R media which can be useful for people with HD cameras, for data backup purposes, etc!

i understand that.. however for myself the only reason i would buy these discs is to make copies of my own so that if anything happens to my originals i'm covered. hence i was asking the question

Any thoughts on how you'd go about authoring your own blu ray disc? I'd love to put my wedding video on blu ray.

Just google Blu-ray authoring and you should get a lot of software options, like Adobe Encore, Apple Final Cut Studio, Cyberlink PowerProducer, Sony Vegas Movie Studio, etc.

Oh, I thought most blu-ray players didn't play home authored blu rays though?
