Default What Size, Format and Picture!

Ive currently got a 21.6" 1080p LCD TV in my room. I bought it about 6 months ago but want a bigger TV despite shelling out £170 for the TV. However, I recently bought a Blu Ray player and want to get the full viewing experience from it, that and coming home watching Blade Runner in full Blu Ray glory on my dads Panny 50" Plasma has made me realise how much I want a bigger tv.
In my new room I sit around 5-6ft away from the TV and Im not sure what size or even what type of tv to get. I was originally thinking of a 32" HD ready LCD TV. However, I saw my aunts 37" full HD LCD TV on the weekend and loved the picture and look. But Im not sure it'd be too big for the distance. But once I start getting to 37", TVs are around £450 and for just £50 more you can get a 42" Plasma HD Ready TV and I preffer Plasma to LCD but at that size HD Ready, is it as good as 37" FULL HD. Im really in a pickle. Ive got a while to decide as I probably wont be buying or have the funds until just after christmas but Ive been thinking about it the last few days. Any opinions guys, thanks.

Grab a 42-inch 720p or 1080p Panasonic plasma. Brilliant picture and incredibly affordable for what you get. You'll love it.

Yeah, the only issue is if it would fit in the gap in my room!
Im currently paying off my car so ive got a few more months of saving before considering getting the tv, I just dont see the point in having my nice blu ray player on my smallish 22" tv and my dads panny television just makes me drool and want a big tv

It's really up to you..... I'll get attacked for suggesting going for a larger 720p unit.... and I'll get attacked for suggesting a smaller t.v.

I've noticed that there isn't a large jump in price from 32" to 37" so I'd make 37" the minimum size you should consider.

Not by me you won't.

From the choices you are providing, you'll have the best picture on the 720p plasma. I've got 2, and HD content looks fantastic on them both. You will not be disappointed, and you'll appreciate the larger size.

Im just guesstimating how far Ill sit from the screen as Im not in my room till tuesday. Im probably going to get some speakers afterwards but its mainly TV size im thinking about. Ive always preffered plasma and 42" seems to be the common plasma size and Im not sure an LCD that size would be a good idea. So its either 32/37" LCD or 42" Plasma. Im thinking Full HD for all of them would be a good idea?

if you prefer plasma..... and if you can make a 42" happen.... then by all means go that route.......

Also "Full HD" is pretty much a marketing term.... HD is HD.... which is 720p or 1080p (and some in between actually) Obviously 1080p is more progressive lines of resolution than 720p, and nobody is going to argue that.

Im looking at 2 TVs now

Samsung LE40B530P 40" LCD 1080p - £479.00
Samsung PS42B430P 42" Plasma HD Ready - £449.99

I like the plasma but the LCD is full HD which I like and also, 100hz on the plasma vs 50hz on the LCD and Ive been hearing the 100hz can give what appears a sped up picture. Now Ive seen this effect on a tv and not sure if its because of 100hz but itd put me off massively.
