is mr camerons 1st film since titanic going to beat his predecessor in the box office?..will it beat movies such as transformers ROTF all Harry potter?

Doubt it. However, ever since the already-hyped trailer came out, I'm betting it'll dominate the box office just like Titanic did in 1997.

And probably not.

It will do quite well, but I highly doubt it will put up $800+ million numbers.

Maybe it can surpass HP, but I don't think it will get to $400 million domestic. Titanic appealed to everyone and this is a fantasy Sci Fi movie. Zero chance of besting Titanic in the Box Office.

Is it me,or has PIXAR spoilt us.The gfx does not look totally convincing.Had the impression I was watching a game trailer

Lets wait for the final experience.Maybe they will touch it up.Looked abit mushy too

lol its meant for an imax 3-d viewing not your monitor infront of you...maybe thats the mushiness you were experincing

Does IMAX mean that it won't be playing in ordinary cinemas?We don't have IMAX in norway

It won't come close to Titanic. Every woman and senior citizen in America saw Titanic. I doubt that will be the case with Avatar. It's Sci-fi...most won't be interested in it. But it will do very well.

i don't think it will top titanic. that was a movie about humans in love during a real event in history; tissue companies made a fortune from it! since it's got lots of special effects and CGI, most chicks won't be interested in it. Lots of dudes will go to see it, but, most chicks won't. so that's what i think. it will make lots of money but won't pass titanic and won't have the lasting power of titanic either. no kate, leo or celine!
