Default Bravia W Series or XBR

I've found a KDL-52W5100 for $1499. That's $500 less than the XBR9. Is the XBR worth the upgrade? Seems like the W gives most of the XBR but at a much better price. Both have the same Bravia 3 engine. Main differences seem to be the 120MHz v 240Mhz, x.y color, different backlight. I know the XBR has a lot of supporters, but is it worth $500 more than the W?
Thanks

The XBR has a 10 bit panel and processor vs 8 bit for the W.

Is there a visible difference? Yes.

Is it worht $500.00? Thats up to you.

Why not settle in the middle? The Z is very sexy and also has a 10-bit display.

The W Also only has a 50,000:1 dynamic Contrast ratio where as the xbr9 has 100,000:1. When it comes to the Z, I never understood the diference. To me it looks identical on specs to the XBR line but I always buy XBR. I just know I'm getting the best and my mind is at peace lol.

The W, Z and XBR all have the 100,000:1 contrast ratio. The W has 120 MHz, both Z and XBR do 240MHz.
I saw the W and XBR next to each other at Fry's. Really couldn't see a significant difference in PQ. The sales guy said that they were both out of the box with no effort made to calibrate (I doubted if any effort was made to set them up at all.)
There was a $500 difference between the W and XBR.

If you have one, go to a Sony Style... They should have the 46 W next to the XBR playing Chihuly in the Hotshop. The colors are absolutely sick on the XBR.

Thanks. I didn't know that there were any SonyStyle stores! There is one locally. I'll check it out.

If you're undecided . . .and want my advice . . .go with the XBR . .

BUT you might want to see what Sony will do with the XBR 10

well ... I don't know you ever go through the Sony remote to adjust the color on the Sony XBR set ... but there are many different options that you can actually be able to use compare to the non-XBR models ... I just want to say: you pay for what you get ... there is no free lunch ...
