Of course it's fake. I would never believe a hippo (vegetarian) would eat anyone, let alone the "gag reflex" BS brought into the fake story to make it more plausible. Well, the fake story circulated in the 90's. It's been around and funny to see it still making the rounds.

Hippos are omnivores (they eat both animals and plants) and are responsible for more human deaths in Africa than lions, tigers or crocodiles.

There was actually a recent Jeff Corwin episode where his river guide refused to enter an area of high hippo population because they'll readily overturn boats and kill fishermen.

Hippos are vicious. No question about it, they leave terrible impacts on their victims lives.

Wrong. They are scientifically classified as herbivores.
For today's example, I'll use National Geographic facts on hippos, but feel free to do your own research, which you need more of.

As for your other scandalous tangent, most people injured by hippos are poachers and the thrill seekers. Hippos are rather shy.

I wouldn't be surprised about this. I watched on a little Doc. on discovery about Hippos they are actually vicious creatures. They kill other Baby Hippos if that baby accidentally came over to the other's territory.
