Default amazon prime loop hole I'm caught in

so amazon prime is set to automatically renew, they don't email you to tell you that the renewal is coming up, so it is just another company tactic that we often see. they offer refunds if you cancel before you use prime after the renewal, if you use it once then they dont offer a refund.

well I had placed an order a couple weeks before my prime membership renewed and it was only charged today, so technically it falls under the new prime period and now I can't get a refund.

what should I do now? it seems they successfully scammed me from this loop hole

I guess you could email them with the dates and times see if they issue you a credit. I really like it, but after my years up I really don't know what else I could buy from them, since I spend like almost 200 a week on stuff.

yeah I called them and they are fixing it, I liked the program too and don't regret the year it was on but am not a fan of the automatic renewal systems, it is just another way these companies try to scam people

Same here mine is up for renewal also, the bad thing is that Amazon doesn't notify you that your Prime is up for renewal, they just automatically do it...

I have decided not to renew either, its good to have but I just don't buy as much as I used to before.

EDITTTTTTT...
Thanks guys, didn't know there was an option in there for Prime renewal.

I've gotten a renewal reminder the last 2 years for prime. Also, there is an option of not renewing by going into the manage amazon prime settings.

This is correct. The first year I had Prime, it was set to NOT auto-renew, and I was able to change this in the settings. Even now, with it set to auto-renew, I still get notification emails from Amazon.

@Clint Eastwood -- If you want to cancel your Prime membership, just call Amazon and let them know you didn't know it was set to auto-renew and you'd like a refund. They'll probably do it, less any shipping charges you SAVED as a result of having this new Prime renewal active.

You can go into your account page and turn off the auto-renewal fyi.

That's what I did when I had it.

Prime users should always turn off the auto-renewal option. It benefits no one but Amazon. You do not get any discount for using it.
