Default The Official Documentary Thread

I've been on a documentary spurt recently and thought it would be good idea to create this thread. Basically, I want this to be a thread where we can discuss documentaries you have recently seen and discuss them here. Also feel free to make suggestions in here, ask opinions, etc.

I also thought this would be a good reference thread in preceding the eventual "Blu-ray Community Top 25 Documentary Films" later this year.

All right, I just done watching a documentary "The Devil Came on Horseback" off Instant Netflix.

The Devil Came on Horseback features ex-Marine Brian Steidle as travels to Sudan to help the African Union as a unarmed military observer. Unaware of the drastic situation unfolding in Darfur, Steidle soon comes to witness the genocide is process. While I feel the film ultimately reaches it goal of exposing the truth behind Darfur, I feel that it could have been fleshed out more. The run time is only 85 minutes, so I felt like this could have been 2 hours or more and been more effective. It would have been great if they showed more of his evidence and more witness testimony. Other than that I thought for the most part it was well executed.

Overall I would rate it: 7.5
