Annoys me when a screenshot leaks out early for a game like this before you see a video to put it all into context (how much scenery destruction is there, does it break on predefined fractures like BLACK or is there proper GeoMod Red Faction style acurate damage). Still, looks nice. I wasn't a big fan of the original game but I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Here's a bigger version (720p) and frankly I'm not impressed at all.

But maybe it's just some joke from Guerilla, the screen above is said to be a poster on the wall of the real Killzone 2 screencap, look at this:

The question is, which one is "fake"? I hope it's the first one...

I hope both are fake, the shadow on the wall is too pixelated for what it's been touted as being in the graphics department.

That looks about like a realistic expectation of what the PS3 can generate, the last one was Sony's usual fudged BS with their tech demos (well, with liquid nitrogen cooling and burning out the chip every 6 frames.....) Don't forget that tech demo was running at 5fps in reality, put out to video at 60fps and then shown. It's like when they claimed the Emotion Engine could do the FF8 ballroom scene in real time (anyone ever seen anything close to that on PS2?)

What they showed before was so far beyond quad-core SLI'd PCs with a 3rd card for Physics, there's no possible way they would have squeezed that from a $1000 game console, let alone a $600 one.

They'll smooth out things like shadow aliasing closer to ship date. Little stuff like that is always endgame. Be happy the graphics still look great.

I bet they´ll show this bad looking pic on E3,

and then everybody is like: ohhh doesen´t look good.... blabla

...they´ll zoom out, and everybody is realizing that its only a damn pic on the wall.... and "boom" the game will look awesome

Raven Two To Tango

I don't remember seeing any close to that on the Xbox, also Malice had a pretty extreme texture resolution and shadow quantity & quality downgrade too.

Resident Evil 5 trailer, don't see anyone complaining about that but I guess it wasn't put out by Sony.

It's pretty boring reading people complaining about these videos.

In the second picture the thumb and gun are obviously horizontally stretched, that looks to be the faked pic.

I don't know why SONY choose this as one of their "killer-apps" Being as the first one absolutely sucked. They sure could have picked a better franchise for their console.

Riddick was damn close to that, No one ever got spotlights to look that good in actual play, but otherwise yes, it looked real close, especially the character models.

They also were claiming it as a tech demo, like the "rubber duckeys"

Not that any of the games would actually look that good, like they did with Killzone, or making the FF8 claim.

You're kidding right?

Riddick

Yeah, the Raven tech demo has generally very blurry textures including the normal maps. And the difference in lighting is minimal at best.. give me a break.

Today Arjan Brussee, Guerrilla-Games' development director, confirmed that the company will be releasing lots more Killzone screenshots in the coming days.

Brussee also confirmed that Sony will update the PlayStation Store with a Killzone gameplay trailer, but that the game won't be playable at E3 itself. As known, Sony will have a pre-E3 Killzone event today, so it's possible the game will be playable there.

2 different styles. Riddick is all about shadow. That tech demo was "arena" lighting.

What were you saying Riddick's damn close to then?

Either those tech demos were representative or they weren't, you can't pick out individual bits and say "yeah, that bits possible with everything else looking a bit crusty!".

They weren't representative at all, that's tech demos for you.

Can you coment on what sort of build this is..like pre-alpha or beta?
Will there be opportunities for improvements for things like self-shadowing and shadow aliasing etc...?
If I am going of topic/thread just bang me into the right place...

Nice one, as I said they should have got the gameplay vid out first but if someone (USA Today?) posts up a screenie before they're supposed to, before the big launch event whatcha gonna do?
