Default Will You Still Buy 2-D Versions of 3-D CGI Films?

so now that disney has officially announced 3d blurays for 2010.

people will expect a re-release for UP.

hopefully the re-release will contain 3 proper bluray discs; one for 2d feature, one for regualr feature, one for special features.

without the bonus dvd and digital copy nonsense.

are people still eager to pick up UP on nov 10 ??

or will a rental suffice until the definate blu release surfaces.

My daughter will watch this 100 times between now and any re-release, so a rental won't do. I can't say I'll mind seeing it that many times either.

Still buying. It will probably be years before a 3D rerelease happens and Up is simply the best movie of the year so far. Its not a release I can wait on. Sure 2D can't replicate the amazing theatrical experiance but the great story and characters will be in tact

Just need some clarification. In order to watch a BD in 3D, both your tv and player need to support 3D correct? Ex. My tv's i own and blu-ray players(in sig) would not be compatible so i'd still have to watch it in 2D nonetheless...right?

That is correct sir. Though 3D discs will be backwards compatible you will need both a 3D Full HD television and a 3D Blu-Ray player to get the proper 3D effect.

That isn't nessessary. A 3D Blu-Ray gets its effect with separate right eye and left eye video streams on top of one another. By outputting only the left eye video stream its possible to get a standard 1080p 2D Blu-Ray picture. Therefore separately encoding a 2D and 3D feature is completely unnessesary.

New player needed as well. I've seen an article that states a firmware upgrade cant achieve what is needed.

I will happily double dip pixar. Up is easily one of my 3 favorite Pixar titles. I know that Disney/Pixar will make a phenomenal blu-ray for Up. I know when they re-release it for 3D, they'll do it right.
