Default Monoprice hdmi switch

Just picked up an hdmi switch from monoprice, http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

had one little issue with the first hdmi port when connected to my tv. It would stay on for a few seconds and then flicker / static then go back to a solid picture. Put it in the second port and no issues..
Anyone else have an issue like this?

Haven't had a chance to try another device with it.

plug your comcast HD box into the first port and see if you have any issues. if you do, then send it back for a replacement (but first, google and see if anyone else has had a problem like yours with the switch)

also, try another cable if possible.

i see you want to upgrade your components, i'd recommend the receiver before the TV. get a receiver with a HDMI switcher built into it. and make sure it decodes all HD Codecs in the audio department! then either go for a TV or a Blu-ray player (I'd highly recommend the Oppo Blu-player, I have one and buddy, you won't unhappy!)

I have the same switch, and after they replaced it twice they figured out that it was a compatibility issue. I still have the switch, but had to make sure some devices (such as my Xbox 360) were plugged directly into my receiver.

Nearly everyone now recommends Monoprice's new 5x1 switch... look at the user reviews for it.

i have a 5 x 1 HDMI switch from them, i've had it a while so it's not a newer model, but i've had no problems with it. hopefully the info you have posted will help our bud out of his jam!

Thanks for the response guys, I'll try and pull everything out tomorrow and try another cable. I just got 2 new hdmi cables from monoprice so I don't think I can blame them for the issue. I'm just puzzled why the other 3 positions are fine and just the first one gives me problems.

Yes an hdmi switching receiver would help, that's in the works just have to do a little at a time.
