Once you make your post, you should get an email from craigslist with a link, click on the link that should make your post official.

Yeah it won't come up until it is confirmed through email and you follow the link to publish it.

You don't need to register if you just want to do a single posting. It does help though.

I think you just need a valid email address. I made two postings last night without registering.

A few tips...

1.) Register. It's free, and if you ever need to re-post something or if you post more than 1 item, it makes managing it so much easier.

2.) Meet buyers in a well-trafficked public place during daylight hours. Popular places for me to meet buyers are banks (so I know their cash is good, if they withdraw it right there--only take cash!), Starbucks/Panera Bread/coffee shop, grocery store/Walmart parking lots, etc.

IMO, meeting someone after dark, or in a secluded location, is a terrible idea.

3.) Be on time, and request they show up on time. I once sold a $100 mattress to this girl who was an hour late showing up. When she finally got there, she actually tried to haggle the price down. I told her I should be charging her more for wasting my time.

4.) Short, simple ads with no spelling or grammar mistakes, and at least 1-2 good photos will always fetch you more $$$, so take the time to do it right and don't cheat yourself. So many idiots post these ads that look like they were written by a toddler. Or they have no photos, or crappy photos, of the item.

My family and friends are amazed at how much I get for stuff on Craigslist, and I attribute it to my clean, easy-to-read ads with good photos. Last year I sold a used office furniture set for $1800, even though I bought it new for $1400 about 3 years prior. I sold my used 80gb PS3 for $260 about 3 days after the 120gb Slim came out at $299. I had a friend try for months to sell an engagement ring (post-divorce) on Craigslist for $1500. I re-wrote the ad, took new photos, and sold it for her in 2 days for $2300. CL is just like anywhere else: the best marketing wins.

Craigslist purchases are all caveat emptor, but that wouldn't be a bad idea to give your buyer some confidence.

Resister. Put up the AD. Wait for the Email response from them. Then you should be fine. other than that something went wrong when you posted your ad.

I'm getting hit by a lot of spam on my ads. It's kind of annoying. They even start off like:

"You don't need to sell you stuff to feed your family..."

I'm selling it to make money you idiots.
