Its got both the original black & white version and the Ted Turnerized color version. The US release from Paramount is the same way.

I have both the DVD and the Blu-ray and the colorization is really fantastic. It is like watching a whole new film. I know purists don't like colorizing but every release includes both the original black and white as well as the colorized version. A lot of older films would have been made in color if it was available or if they had enough money to do so.

I always thought this film was actually shot in the winter when I was a kid and in color it looks even more like real snow. Some shots look so good that it seems like it was actually shot in color. I watch both but I really do prefer the colorized version.

I've watched the movie in both black/white and colour... I prefer the black/white version. The colourized version looked awful.

So hang on, are people complaining that it features a colour version?

Why?

It also includes the original B&W version, so what's wrong with offering the movie in an alternative colour version also? I'll probably buy this soon actually since Christmas is fast approaching!

Exactly, it's not like the Star Wars Saga Seriously, at least you get both versions.

I watch this every Christmas Eve with the family. Had the blu-ray for two or three years now and first year we had it we watched it in colour. It's tastefully done and looks very much like the quality of colour that you find on early films. I'd happily watch it again that way but every time I suggest it the kids insist black and white is better. They're right of course.

Exactly. It's discussions like this which is why studios don't listen to the fans. "We demand every version be included for prosperity!" for some sets, "Why have you included that version that I don't like?" for others. They can't win.

I think a lot of buyers wouldn't go near a B & W Blu-ray and in some way the colourized version makes up for it and introduces a classic film to new audiences. It looks like a stellar job to say the least. Pictures from DVDBeaver.http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDCom...derfullife.htm

Both versions look fantastic, it's a shame to brush off a different version of a film simply because it's different.

Ehhh, it looks awful. They look like they have a severe case of jaundice. Like I said earlier, I've watched both and the colour version looks awful. Especially on a big screen. It just doesn't look natural compared to the black and white version.

It features the B/W and Colourized edition, so no need to complain, really.

If it looks as good as this [activate 720p HD]

Might consider buying the Blu-ray, but never seen this film before though after watching a bit of this YouTube video left me curious.

Both versions are included in the product. I believe it's on a single disc.
