Default Horizontal Lense Shift

I'm thinking of purchasing a new projector and I would like to have the pj on a shelf instead of being mounted on the ceiling. The shelf would be just about center vertically, so that is not an issue at all. However, based on what I want to do, the pj would appear to be about 12" off from center horizontally. My question is, are most pj's (like the Sanyo PLV-Z60 or the Panasonic PT-AX200U) capable of a 12" horizontal lense shift without losing any PQ? (By the way, I am aware that you do lose the amount you can vertically shift when you use the horizontal shift, but as previously stated, my pj would be positioned just about center vertically, so I should be OK here.) Thanks for any and all replies!

Fors either one of those can do that 12" horizontal shift with no problem. You won't have any loss in PQ either until you get to the very end of the lens shift.

I had my AV rack on the right side of my room and the Z2 did a horizontal shift of more than 12" with no degrade in picture quality. When I got the Polk Monitor 40's I had to move the rack behind my chair to make room for the rear speakers, that's the only reason I put it directly behind my chair.

Thanks! If you look at my pics, you will see the back of our desk behind the couch. I plan in putting it on the far left of the shelf, which would be about 12" away from the center of the screen horizontally. But it should be really close to dead on vertically. I like this idea, because it really makes the HDMI run that much easier to do, as I can run it behind the furniture and along the wall while keeping it all out of sight. I don't like the idea of the inflexibility and difficulty in putting up a 22AWG or 24AWG HDMI cable run across the ceiling.

Man I wish I could help you (I guess the bump sort of helps) but my PJ is a DLP w/ vertical shift only and is one of the few DLPs that has any shift at all. But from my users guide:

"The vertical lens shift control provides flexibility for installing your projector. It allows the projector to be positioned slightly above or below the top level of the projected images."

This means I can shift the image almost a full image height below the lens center line or about 40" in my case. If I can do this with mine vertically, I assume you would have the same flexibility with a PJ that has horizontal shift. Good Luck.
