Default hd dvd fans coming around?

http://forum.hd-dvd.com/showthread.php?t=1212

I decided to look over at their website to see what the war is like from their perspective. I was surprised about how reasonable some of them are, and not so surprised by other posters who revert to name calling and intimidation.

there are a few other threads I saw over there that were semi nice towards blu ray. were these from trolls on our side? or legitimate hd dvd owners?

I have seen a couple threads on other forums where people say I can't believe I did it but..... Seems like quite a few people jumped on the PS3 offer. I can just see the PS3 selling more with their $100 price drop than the Toshibas did with their sale.

But, then there are others who are so stubborn that say they will never buy Blu-ray even if HD DVD dies! Whatever.

Wonder why there forum looks just like ours, except for the hd-dvd on top of it, I would figure they would have a red background not blue. Hmmm, wonder if they have been blue all along, lol.

Wow, a whopping 1 member online. That website is the skid mark on the underpants of society. I didn't even know there was an hd-dvd.com website. And I thought there is not supposed to be any hyphen in hd dvd. Nice, a website that can't even correctly spell what they are supporting... idiots.

It should, since the PS3 is also a video game system.

I really hope that they are not that angry that the format they had chosen loses. But I think a lot of them are just Sony haters and since Sony is so closely associated with Blu-Ray they feel they must automatically hate it.

I heard about the website on here a while ago. I think its owned by the same people who own this domain. which would explain the similar layout.

I'm not going to say that these forums are unbiased, in fact, almost everyone here hates hddvd. But at least most folks here both know what they're talking about or are telling the truth. And even the guy who was defending blu didn't know what he was talking about all the time. There is just too much wrong with those forums.

From browsing their site for the last few minutes I get this very empty, deserted feeling. Kind of like I'm walking through an old western town, with no one in site. I look around and there is nothing but dirt and old dilapidated wooden homes. Then all of a sudden, a sad, lonely tumbleweed rolls by.

Don't ask me why I feel that way or why I decided to share that visual with everyone. But I think you get my point...it's very lonely to be an hd dvd supporter.

Looking at their members list, I saw some familiar names. j/k, I'm not mad.

This was a response. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA

CptGreedle,

I have a feeling you had your mind made up before you started posting here, you may have even been trolling who knows.

No one disputes that Sony has a better market share at this point in the game, but I think its way to early for the war to be over.

Personally I am waiting for some kind of merge of the formats, whether it be with a dual-support player, dual-format disc whatever. The reason I went Hd-DVD is because I had an Xbox 360, I was able to get the add-on for around $99 when it released it was a cheap way to check out the format. I have been pleasantly surprised with the format and right now enjoy watching my movies in HD.

I think its ludicrous we even have to be subject to a format war in this day and age, meaning someone has to lose. In my mind its the consumer that loses.

There are a few things I found interesting in your arguments however that I would like you to elaborate on.

1. Bluray disc are cheaper to make? This is the farthest from the truth. Rampup is extremely expensive because you have to re-tool to produce Bluray disc. HD-DVD can be produced on the same equipment used to make DVDs, probably why its more attractive for the porn industry.

2. Bluray and HD cost about the same? You must be comparing regular BD with HD-DVD combo disc. I can buy most HD-DVD titles for $19 or less at Frys and Amazon. Combo disc are another story. BD disc average around $26.

3. Bit Rate makes better picture? In the general sense this is true, similar argument people have with frame rate in video games, after a certain point it becomes pointless, its not something that is noticeably detectable. I have actually sat in a room with 2 movies playing at the same time one BD on HD-DVD and you were hard pressed to tell the difference, if there was any.

4. Pirates looks better in HD than other movies, IMO Pirates is one of the poorest picture quality movies I have ever seen. Most of the movie is done in a yellow tint and overall the movie has a gritty look to it. So who cares if its in a higher bit rate, the movie is not attractive in HD.

Right now the biggest reason to go HD-DVD is cost. The players are cheaper, the movies are cheaper, the experience is more consistant. If cost isn't an issue to you, which is sounds like it isn't then go Bluray.

It isn't my job to sell you HD-DVD, I would hope you have your own mind and can make your own decisions based on the facts available.

THis is honestly one of the more negative posts that I've seen, its borderline BLURAY hater. But w/e if you want to post stuff like this. Please dont post it here. Post it on the HD-DVD web forum not here. Thanks
