Insignia Player won't open and release disk

I put a burnt copy of Wall-e into my player on Monday and I wouldn't read it. That was ok because there was an error while I made the copy and I didn't expect it to work, but just wanted to make sure. The disk just spins around in the player and after about 5 mins, the display will say 'open' but it won't, even after hours. I've tried unplugging it and turning it on and off. Also hitting the eject button dozens of times to force the disk to come out. Is my only option to play surgeon on the player and try to open it up??
