Default Christopher Nolan's Insomnia

Are there any plans to release Christopher Nolan's film Insomnia on Blu-ray? It isn't listed on the site, but I know that you guys keep up on all of the latest rumors for BD releases.

Dude, it's not even out in theaters yet. Almost every new movie gets a blu release, especially one starring Leo and directed by Nolan. Look for it about 3 months after it hits theaters.

I think you're confusing this with Nolan's next movie, 'Inception'.

'Insomnia' was released in theatres back in 2002

No known plans for Insomnia, but you may be interested to hear that Criterion has rights for his first film called Following.

No specific news on that one, but that will definitely be something to look forward to, and I'd guess that Following coming may motivate the distributor of Insomnia to get that out as well.

LOL. Yeah, it is a good movie. Probably Nolan's weakest so far, but still a good movie nonetheless. The man is 6 for 6 as far as I am concerned. Hopefully he will be 7 for 7 when Inception comes out.

Warner Brothers owns Insomnia.

Following and The Prestige. Following is his first film. Shot it in black and white in Academy ratio (1.37:1) with friends and family on pretty much no budget ($6,000 I think). It is only around 70 minutes long but it is a great little noir film. The Prestige is one you've probably seen or at least heard of. It stars Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale as rival magicians who become obsessed with one-upping each other. The production values on this one are off the charts. Incredible direction, acting, cinematography, editing, and art direction.

Are you unfamiliar with the way Criterion does their business? They make deals with distributors to distribute definitive editions of films, especially ones which may not be seen as viable by the distributor. This is especially true of films with some sort of artistic or cultural value.

Basically they give a little money to distributors and the distributors allow Criterion to release high-end releases of these movies which would otherwise not be fiscally viable.

Yes, i forgot about the Prestige. I really liked the Tesla stuff, but for some reason i enjoyed the Illusionist more, even though I know it wasn't as "polished." I find it weird that similar types of movies often are released in clusters like that.

I know how Criterion works, but thanks for the condescending tone of your post. Criterion is not doing a Blu-ray for Insomnia. They are doing one for Following. I was responding to your claim that Criterion's release of Following will make Insomnia's "distributor" want to release it as well. I was merely stating who the distributor of Insomnia is, since you either did not know who it is or simply chose not to post who it is. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry, I just misread your intentions. I thought you were trying to correct me or something.

And yeah, I wasn't sure the distributor and I was at work at the time and didn't feel like going out of my way to look it up.

Great news!

The Digital Bits posted today that Insomnia is coming July 13, with all the DVD extras as well.

Quote:
First, Warner Home Video has set Christopher Nolan's Insomnia for release on Blu-ray Disc on 7/13 (SRP $24.98). all the extras from the DVD will carry over, including the deleted scene, the two commentary tracks, 4 featurettes and the theatrical trailer.
EDIT: Just realized it was posted here on Blu-ray.com as well, way early in the morning. Kinda got buried by a lot of other news today.

I'll end up getting this one sooner or later. Good movie. I don't want to spend more than 15 bucks though.
