Question Regarding Japanese Blus

A friend of mine is going to Japan on a business trip and I'm asking him to pick-up a few Japanese Blus for me - Phantom of the Opera & Aeon Flux.

Do Japanese discs have forced subtitles or forced dubbing? Just want to make sure I'm not in for any surprises. Thanks.

Oh - and any other Blus from Japan I should consider picking up?

As far as I know, there's no Japanese releases of U.S. films that have forced subtitles/dubbing.

Oh - and any other Blus from Japan I should consider picking up?

"The Crow" is a very good release.

Avoid those 2 titles, since both aleady been release in U.S. for some time, also most U.S. Blu-ray in japan cost like double more than U.S.

Don't know about Aeon Flux, but the Phantom BD from Japan is on a 50 Gb disc and has lossless audio which is a step up from the US releases 25 Gb DD only specs. There are several titles like that where the Japanese release has superior specs or something that the US release lacks. I wish there was a list somewhere of all of the titles like this, but I have yet to find one.

LOL! I happen to love these two movies, that's why I want the Japanese version for the lossless & superior transfer.

Another one to consider is Equilibrium, titled 'Rebellion' in Japan, the Japanese release is the only BD edition with both the correct aspect ratio and lossless audio and is reputed to be excellent.

If you happen to come across more titles or a list of titles with superior Japanese releases I would love to know. I don't have any connections in Japan right now, but I am looking to make a list of titles to eventually buy over time as budget allows. I think a sticky in this section would be a great addition, kind of like the Canadian exclusive sticky in the Canadian section.

I wouldnt' take this guys advice. The Japanese releases of these titles have much better specs.
