Default NCsoft teams exclusively with Sony

South Korea-based MMOG publisher bringing "several" exclusive, unannounced games to PS3, PSP.
Quote:
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--Game announcements were served up du jour at Sony's press conference earlier today at the E3 Media and Business Summit. However, Sony also served up a heaping helping of its online plan, including several new looks at the revamped Home service.

Home wasn't the only online integration on Sony's plate, however. During the conference, the megapublisher also announced an exclusive partnership with South Korea-based massively multiplayer online aficionados NCsoft to create several online games for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

Sony also has its in-house studio Sony Online Entertainment developing games for the PlayStation Network. In June, SOE announced it's latest game for Sony's online network, titled The Agency. SOE has also brought several classic games to the PlayStation 3, including Q*bert, Rampart, and Mortal Kombat II.

Aside from the announcement itself, Sony did not announce any games that NCsoft had in the works for either platform.
Big news for MMOG fans!

Although mmo games are cool. The fact you have to pay monthly is stupid!

Yeah, I swore up and down that I would never pay for one game month after month.

...but then I did. City of Heroes is a pretty fun game (although City of Villains is better).

yeah, I enjoyed Villains a little bit more, too. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the monthly fee ($15/mo., last I looked, it's been awhile) for a PlayNC account, and the account lets you play multiple games from NC? Or is it a pay/game deal? I've only played one at a time (stopped COH and switched to COV)

Big difference though, that's the publisher, not the developer.

If Cryptic made the announcement, it'd be interesting, especially given that the Marvel game was going to be on the 360 [haven't been following it recently to say].

It's a fee per game. GuildWars has no monthly fee though, which may be what you're thinking of.
The story in CoV is better, but the classes in CoH are just better at their functions [this is largely because Heroes are traditionally all specialists, while villains have this nice hack-job going on of not really specializing in anything].

I thinks its wrong. I think that once you paid for a game, that should be it. Some people don't have that money. They might be able to buy the game but never be able to carry it on,

Default NCsoft MMO and PS3 partnership interview

http://www.ggl.com/index.php?control...rticle&id=5406

Explains why they parternered with Sony and the PS3...open architecture of PSN is the big one ... games will be delivered both via Blu-ray and as DL content - depending on the size.

More interesting bits in there...

I had assumed it would be all DL content given it was on-line MMO stuff - but now we can add even more blu-ray disc production coming down the road...driving the costs lower..the train she is a rolling folks...

NCSoft Unveiling First Console Game This Year

Quote:
Speaking with Wired at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Chung said that his company should have "something to announce--not only announce but to show--by the second half of this year. I'm pretty psyched about that."

Dang it, I just quit MMORPG (FFXI) that I've been playing for 4 years (almost 5). Took a lot of my time, and now another MMORPG coming to the PS3?
