Default Why Hate on the High End?

The editor of HT Magazine asked this deep question in the latest issue. I see evidence of that here also. Everytime a new BD player is announce - we tend to cry - that's too expensive, or just buy a PS3. Can people ever learn to appreciate the High-End, even if we can't afford it? How many people that hate on high-end gear actually take the time to go and listen to it....at length? I know that my system is not the end all - but I do build off of a reference, things that I have heard that just sound right. The high end exisit to give us a reference - something to compare all others to. I rarely see people criticize people for buying an expensive automobile - as a matter of fact they are cheered on - and given the opprotunity - people who like to drive desire to operate luxury/and or sports cars. They even like to read about them! Let's take a que from the car lovers - lets enjoy the things we can't afford, not dog them out because of their price. I think the editor of HT Magazine hit a home run with that article. What do you think?
