Default Enslaved : Odyssey to the West - Out Now

Article below:

Ninja Theory(Heavenly Sword) has announced today the name of their 2010 PS3 and Xbox 360 video game.
Wednesday, 30 Sep 2009 11:31

Enslaved Ninja Theory has today announced the name of their 2010 PS3 and Xbox 360 video game.

With Namco Bandai as their publishing partner, Ninja Theory, developers of PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavenly Sword, today announced their next game. Enslaved will be coming to PS3s and Xbox 360s in 2010.

The Cambridge developer split ties with previous publisher Sony Computer Entertainment after the tepid reception of Heavenly Sword, despite a star-studded cast, beautiful graphics and arguably the best facial animation in video games.

The multi-platform Enslaved takes players on a gripping journey through the tactical and post-apocalyptic adventure of two dissimilar characters; the strong and brutish Monkey, and the technologically savvy woman Trip (AI controlled).

With a mix of combat, strategy and platforming, the game will bring beautiful graphics, seamless animation and engrossing gameplay.

150 years in the future the world has been struck by a dwindling population and merciless robots. Captured by a ship rumoured to "harvest people" both Monkey and Trip seek to escape, but Trip sees Monkey's strength as her only hope. She hacks into his slave headband and ties him to herself - if she dies, he dies.

Therefore, players must make sure Monkey and Trip work together to navigate the world and overcome the obstacles and enemies in their way.

Andy Serkis will be reprising his role as director, script writer and actor in the game, taking on the role of Monkey.

World-class composer and musician Nitin Sawhney will also be returning to create the score for Enslaved.

Novelist and screenwriter Alex Garland (The Beach, 28 Days Later) will act as co-writer on his first video game project.

Enslaved will be out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010.

Hopefully they focus more on the gameplay than the facial animations this time.. The potential is definitely there for something cool

edit: those pics look very cool. I can't wait to see some gameplay.

I thought Heavenly Sword was very fun and amazing looking, so I'm a lil perplexed at the comments made about it's reception. Regardless, I'll have to see how Enslaved turns out.

Don't know how much of this is true, but I read that development costs for Heavenly Sword were pretty high to get those realistic movements, facial features, voice acting, etc and being a launch title on the PS3, apparently Heavenly Sword didn't sell enough. Hence, they go multiplat now to increase the potential customer base.

If memory serves, a rep from Ninja Theory has declared that it had always been in their intention to hone their skills on exclusives at first (they had a Xbox exclusive first in 2003, then went for the PS3 with Heavenly Sword) to finally go multiplatform where the "real biz" ($$) is, according to them.

Personally, I'll wait and see what their new project will look like, but I'd really like Sony to produce a sequel to Heavenly Sword with the same type of environments and mechanics, but no bugs/glitches (framerate/ camera), revised gameplay (specially the sixaxis twing-twang/ shield throw moments) and longer single player. Add some Arena type multiplayer for added goodness .

The visuals, production values and voice acting are absolutely fantastic in HS imo.

I've been wanting to get Heavenly Sword for a long time, but I just never wanted to pay full price for it. I'll look for a used copy somewhere or something. I hate renting so that's out of the question for me.

Enslaved looks like it's going to be great.

I played it. It plays awesome, in my opinion. Am I the only one thinking the heroine in this looks an awful like Nariko? Just something I noticed, and it's kinda distracting.

Serkis is great as Monkey, and the game seems like it's gonna be fantastic! I'm definitely getting this when it comes out.

i played it the other day, and it seems like a heavenly sword/uncharted kind of game. the gameplay is similar to uncharted to certain extent but the controls still feel a little clunky. I see a lot of improvement over Heavenly sword but I hope they can get the controls to be a little better. Still a day one for me.

Love this Demo....have to agree the control feels a bit clunky at times but over all the game looks good...will pick this up for sure.

Good to see Ninja Theory back in the game...

Based on the segment in Qore, I was really looking forward to this game. After playing the demo, not so much.
