A test of all three Blu-rays by EcranLarge.com: basically praising the new digital transfers that have been restored and the good DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 tracks on the BDs.

Actually, there is preliminary info that one of the discs is English-friendly.

I have to check later on to confirm.

Should be english friendly given the studio as they have always been region free and give subs. if theres at least french subs I shall get it. not sure which route i"ll go as the 4 by them selfs would be a bit more. never used FNAC. look there all teh time as they seem to show more spec info then amazon

Just got the box set (terrific PQ) and I can confirm that English subs are available for "Les tontons flingueurs" but not the other two.

. . . is there any indication that LES TONTONS FLINGUEURS is Region Free, or Region A, B . . .

The back of the box indicates all three films are A B C compatible. Though I don't have any way to test it by myself.

I really hate to see those 'fnac editions speciales' becoming a regular thing. They keep other distributers from carrying those editions and set a 'special' price that won't suffer from any concurrency.

But those Gaumont editions have always been something to look for in the dvd era, no reason to change now. Those three are definitely in my wish-list.

Depends. Wherever you buy stuff offline (except for Planète Saturne), you're always going to pay a premium price. And for this particular release, you can get all three movies separately, so FNAC are just helping out those who'd like all three.

There aren't often FNAC Exclusives, by that I mean movies that ONLY FNAC are distributing, so other stores can do as they please regarding selling the movies. Virgin Megastore also has Special Editions, but we don't hear of them that often.

Default les tontons flingueurs

just read the review of this classic 1963 French comedy by pro-b, but noticed there doesn't seem to be a dedicated thread for it.
anyway, I found this interesting article that came out when news of this release first arrived.
looks like a really fun film.
and, of course, being on Gaumont--the most English friendly studio--certainly helps for NA viewers.
