Does anyone know if PS3 games are in PCM Uncompressed surround or just Dolby Digital 5.1 or 7.1?

The ones out now are just dolby digital but there will be games released w/ uncompressed pcm audio starting with Lair on aug 14th.

My receiver almost always says MPCM when I'm playing a game.. But some others say Dolby???? Doesn't that mean the others are PCM?

Resistance is 7.1 PCM
Lair 7.1 PCM
Dirt 7.1 PCM
Warhawk 7.1 PCM
Ratchet and Clank 7.1 PCM

When I played Rainbow Six: Vegas on my friends 360, it played on my receiver in Dolby Digital. When I got it for PS3 it played in MPCM. When I played Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, that played in Dolby Digital.

MPCM > Dolby Digital, right? The Ninja Gaiden sounds were really good though.

Other games may have PCM audio it's just not advertised.

Ah ok. So Vegas must be in 5.1 PCM then.

So Amon-- The list you gave was for 7.1 PCM... THAT is something surely good to advertise

My receiver does this stupid thing where if a game isn't in 7.1 I have to disable 7.1 MPCM in order to use IIx, otherwise the back speakers won't work. The PS3 sends a signal to the back speakers even if there is no 7.1 audio, so I have to disable that and apply IIx.

Ya other games must have 5.1, I think someone said Motorstorm may have it.

You must have that Yamaha 661 receiver.

Looking at the back of Vegas-- it says it is in Dolby Digital. So how does the PS3 output in MPCM? I know MPCM is better QUALITY than Dolby, but is it correctly outputting the right audio?

killzone 2 is suposed to come in 7.1 also , they really should print that in the back , I only can confirm resistance as 7.1 I heard motorstorm and genji are 7.1 , anyone knows a list of 7.1 ps3 games ?

These games will still have Dolby 5.1 for those of us with older receivers though, right?

Yes, all games will still have a dolby digital track and a stereo track for those not using a surround sound receiver.

some Have Dolby digital some have pmc

i live in japan and here we print the audio specs on the back of games. It sucks that they don't do this overseas.
