sorry if this isnt the right forum for this question. I have a friend and he doesnt think bluray is that much better than dvd as far as the picture goes. he has seen the same movie on dvd and bluray and still doesnt think bluray is as great as people say it is. Is there anything I can prove to him that bluray is better than dvd. I tried the picture quality route but that dont work, he just says he really cant tell the difference. I guess I could tell him all the facts about dvd compared to bluray.

Do you enjoy blu-ray's? If so, just sit back and be grateful that you can appreciate that which he/she cannot. I've had a lot of friends who were skeptical at first, but after multiple viewings and going back to DVDs in between, they were hooked.

Well...I'm at a loss. PQ is usually what people notice immediately. AQ is a huge jump as well, but is not as easily noticeable. Maybe your friend should invest in a pair of glasses?

My boss and her husband are the same way. Their son (who's about my age) just got a PS3 and NONE of them could supposedly tell any difference. She actually said, "This blu-ray thing isn't going to catch on."

...ugh. I have no idea of the TV (some kind of Sony) picture settings, etc. I offered for them to come over to my place- I guarantee they'd notice a difference then!

they never have hdmi hooked up. how many people have a ps3 and say that at first. I even did a couple years back till i read u have to have a hdmi cable to get 1080p. I was shocked when that ps3 screen saying a hdmi source was found would you like to use that? then hit yes and wow!!!!

I did ask her about HDMI and she said they did do that much. Still, who knows what they have it set on outside of that.

Good for him. There's a lot of great stuff out on DVD so if he thinks it's as good as Blu Ray he's in luck.

Tell him to get his vision checked, make sure he gets glasses or contacts to give him 20/20 vision, the do the same dvd-to-blu-ray comparisson to see if he sings the same tune.

A former roomate of mine couldn't tell the difference between SDTV and HDTV and once he got glasses I showed him an HD broadcast v.s. a SD broadcast of the same show and his exact words were "G***amn it, you were right...I hate you."
