Joss Whedon's next movie "Cabin in the Woods" has been delayed 11 months so it can be converted to 3-D. link.

I hadn't heard anything about this, but I'm sure it will be interesting.

Retroactively converting to 3-D sounds like a bad idea to me, though.

Should be a good film. The test screenings apparently are very positive. Looking forward to when this does get a release.

Couldn't find a thread for this movie so I will post it here but it looks like Sony may pick this up for distribution from MGM which I hope is true as this is one of my anticipated upcoming horror moves and really just want them to release it already.

I have been waiting so long for this movie because I am such I big Joss fan but I think I went from super excited to just sick of waiting. I am at the point now with this movie that I don't care if it comes out or not.

Yeah I miss her but I hold some hope that Joss will cast her somewhere in The Averngers.

Break Out The Champagne: Lionsgate Set To Distribute 'Cabin In The Woods'

Almost two years after its original release date, Lionsgate has stepped up as the distributor of The Cabin In The Woods after MGM's financial woes kept it from being released. No official release date has been set, but I'll take a shot in the dark and guess October for now.

While I'm excited knowing that I'll get to see the film a lot sooner than I thought, I'm a bit conflicted about how it's going to be received. It definitely has geek allure - with Joss Whedon gaining more buzz than usual from his Avengers directing gig and Chris Hemsworth blowing up more and more by the day for starring role in Thor - but in a post-Scream 4 world, how well is a R-rated self-aware horror-comedy going to do?

Can't wait to finally see this.

The Cabin in the Woods Coming October 28?

Yesterday, there were updates on two Lionsgate projects. First it was revealed that Lionsgate had picked up MGM's The Cabin in the Woods for distribution. That was followed by the news that Dibbuk Box (AKA the "Untitled Sam Raimi Horror Project") was going to be moved back from October 28 to January 6, 2012.

Industry insiders have now revealed to us that this move was most likely made so that The Cabin in the Woods, directed by Drew Goddard and written by Goddard and Joss Whedon, can take that October 28 slot. The film, starring Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford and Brian White, is a spin on the ol' "cabin in the woods" scenario where a bunch of kids head out into a forest and creepy shit goes down.

Directed by Ole Bornedal and produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, Dibbuk Box is a fictional retelling of Los Angeles Times writer Leslie Gornstein's article "Jinx in a Box" about an antique wooden box purchased on eBay which reportedly had been brought to America by a Holocaust survivor after World War II. The box, supposedly containing an evil spirit, brought devastating effects to a series of buyers. Inspired by these real events, the film centers around a cursed relic containing mysterious familial tokens that is mistakenly purchased and its new owner must solve its mystery to save her own family. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick star.

Yeah I hope it's true also. I have also waited a long time and I almost gave up hope due to numerous delays. Glad to see there is light at the end on the tunnel.

I actually enjoyed this film. I thought it looked lame but the reviews were good so i took a chance. Solid film. Different and a lot of fun

My wife and I saw this today and LOVED IT

[Show spoiler]I especially liked that a lot of the monsters, creatures, nightmares, etc... were in some ways references to other movies. We noticed Hellraiser and The Strangers in particular. It was also cool that the "sacrifice" scenario was straight out of Evil Dead. The girl in the Japan scenario reminded us a bit of Samara in The Ring as well.

It was definitely a fresh movie!!

Saw it today and I didn't really like it. It was ok but not my type of movie. I understood what they were trying to say/do but i didn't really enjoy watching it. I also don't get why they marketed it as a scary horror movie when it was really a satirical film. The audience is going to be disappointed because those people are the ones who enjoy the cliche horror films that the movie was making fun of. Its like going to see paranormal activity but the theater shows drag me to hell instead.

That is my opinion as well. I'm not sure why I didn't love the film. I wanted to.

Just saw this with the wife.
Not a bad movie. Far from great. I gave it a 3 for being incredibly average.
I agree with nolfoc that the first hour was boring as hell. The second half was much better, but I won't be buying this on Blu. Glad a lot of folks enjoyed it, though. Just not much replay value to me.
I think I'm getting too spoiled by the superior filmmaking that is coming from South Korea, especially, and other foreign markets.

Speed isn't something I would consider giving him a plus for. Not a fan.

No. No it doesn't. As the say, "The sun even shines on a dog's ass some days."

You may not be a fan of speed, but it's widely regarded as one of the better nineties action movies, so I think we can definitely give him that. And honestly, it sounds like alien 4 was like his script, but there are enough changes it wasn't actually change it. A writer doesn't disown their work for no reason.
