Default Does "Heat" deserve the Wizard of oz treatment?

Ok, Heat isn't as well known as WOO, but its a modern classic. Its one of Warners most respected titles.

I think it deserves the WOO treatment myself, but there is this little devil whispering in my ear saying "its as bad as interview with a vampire"

I don't know how much exposure these threads get.. But if Warner is out there looking in. This title must be given respect. Please Warner.. don't screw us over on this one.

regards,

Richie.

Hopefully it's better than the DVD release. I have it and it's a bit too dark imo.

All of Michael Mann's movies have that dark bluish tint to them. I assume thats what you're talking about.

1st BD I can think of where I cared more how the film will sound than how it will look.

Do you mean should there be sets with memorabilia and loads of special features.

Or do you mean things like remastering done at 8k, going back to the original negative, and cleaning it up and giving us the best possible transfer.

I think every movie should be transferred to Blu-ray in the best possible form; use all the technology that is available. Heat included. But financially, it isn't reasonable to expect it; some will be DVD transfers just filtered and ported over to a Blu-ray disc. Heard that is what happened to Lethal Weapon. I'm worried they will do that to Millers Crossing, not a popular movie, but one of my favorites.

Less than a month to fiind out about Heat.

Exactly what Stringer says, and in a double thickness plastic Blu-ray case without all of the OZ packaging nonsense.

L.A. Takedown is really terrible though. I have a copy and it's tough to get through, because you can really see how different interpretations can ruin a movie.

Heat doesn't deserve the Wizard of Oz/Casablanca treatment, but a title that definitely does and hopefully gets it in 2010 is Lawrence of Arabia.

I hope they fix the "squeezing" I've experienced with the collectors DVD. Any scene and everyone looks too skinny and pointy headed alien. Anyone else notice this? Also, white specks pop up so often they are distracting. Don't see Warner doing anything special for this and would wager all the tea in China it's the same print used in 05'. God I hope I'm wrong.

What exactly is "The Wizard of Oz" treatment? Because if it's good, Heat deserves it.

I'll go so far as to say Heat's the better film, or at least the one I'm more liable to be watching at any given time.
