Default high pitch frequency noise in BD's/tv shows

Im sure that others on this site notice that subtle high pitch frequency noise at times in movies or even on tv shows during certain dialog scenes. Its can get rather annoying at times and I dont get why that happens. It is hard to notice just listening through the tv speakers, but when listening through surround sound it can be quite noticable...any ideas or comments?

Personally, I haven't noticed any sort of high pitched noise in my system, from Blu-ray or broadcast signals.

You might have interference or some other issue causing this problem.

It is not just in my system, it happens in everyones I have listened to. It happens all the time in the tv show Las Vegas on DVD and when it is broadcast on cable (TNT HD). I dont own very many blu rays yet but it happens in Fight Club and on American History X. Go to scene 35 in fight club where Brad Pitt has a gun in Ed's mouth and place your ear up to your center channel speaker for the next minuit of dialog. You will hear a very high pitch noise during a couple of Brad Pitts lines(not Ed Nortons). I can hear it clearly sitting on my couch but others may need to place their ear up to the center channel to know what their listening for. Again it doesnt happen all the time it just seems random and its very annoying, for some reason I can pick it up very well when it happens, it has the same sound that you get when your ears are ringing after a loud concert.

There can be many variables as to what you’re noticing/hearing. One is your age first! Yes age is factor here I’m afraid to say.

I have Fight Club watched it, I mean I listened to it many times over the 10 years now, wow 1999.

And don’t need to place my ear up the centre or even mute the L/R/S/LFE and LF on the centre just to listen to this on the HF centre, I’d be able to see this on the RTA.

Well on most of the narration is 8KHz peaks but unless you have poorly balanced set-up because that would really sound far too unnatural because I don’t even hear people talking that way in real life.

I understand age is a factor when it comes to picking up certain frequencies, I am in my 20's so that could come into play. So basicly what im trying to get at is if anyone else notices this and why it happens. Its more of a curiousity at this point since I know that nothing can be done to fix it since the "problem" is not on the consumers end, but rather the media itself.

that was one of the reasons why i was so happy to get rid of my crt. I couldn't stand that high pitched squeel they make. Of course this isn't the same thing but that sound is annoying.

The pitch I think it varies slightly from CRT to CRT. My RTA picks this up and I have to sometimes switch off the CRT when doing a pink noise test otherwise I get 16KHz displaying on the (RTA) Real Time Analyzer.

My cat can hear it quite easily but it no longer bothers him.

it might also be a ground loop found in the system.

isolate it by removing one component at a time, to eliminate it.

or you can use a ground loop isolator to remove this. there is also a sticky as to how to use em.

If it is a ground loop issue it would have to be present on every TV I have listened to. Ever since I noticed the noise in a BD or on a tv show I have taken the movie and tried it on a different system in the same and different houses and have gotten the same results at the same point in time in a movie or TV show.
