USA Media PC to BR via LAN

Hello, looked through quite a few threads, but did not see one on this topic. I have a media PC in my basement onto which I am loading my CD collection (itunes). I would like to run CAT-5 up to my new Sony BDP-S360 and connect to the LAN port, and run music through the BR player to my receiver in my main floor living area. Is this possible, or do I have to connect directly to my DSL router and "see" the media PC which is part of my LAN?

Many thanks in advance for your help,

I'm not positive on this, but I'm pretty sure the only thing the lan port on your blu ray player is for is BD-Live and firmware updates. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
