i dont understand "risers" . . . - Blu-ray Forum

why do people build "risers" for their speakers, especially noticed on subwoofers?? Am i missing something? I have noticed they tend to look cosmetically horrible.

I am not sure but could it be mostly people who are in apartments or condo?

Mine is going to look very nice when I find a router to finish it the way I want. I'm going to route tracks into the legs so that I can slide some lightly stained pine sheets in between the legs to hide the acoustic foam that I will put underneath. The purpose of the riser is to improve the sound coming from the sub.

To increase performance from your sub, whether it be minimal or measureable. It's a simple thing to do in order to get increase ouput.....and who wouldn't want that?!

the short answer the sub will go louder.

I was skeptical at first, but I used some side tables with mats to see if it did make it sound better. I found when I raised it to the tweeter level, the bass was cleaner and harder to pinpoint the direction or location of sub.
