Does anyone have experience with both of these players? My inclination would be to assume the Denon would best the OPPO (for all you folks that will tout the PQ of the OPPO, they both have the same Anchor Bay VRS chip). If PQ is a wash, Denon must certainly win in the audio dept? Keeping in mind I have a perfectly good SACD/DVD-A player in the same rack this would be going in, so no need for another.
OPPO really shoots themselves in the foot dealing only online. I can walk into my local home theater shop and sample the Denon (even take it home for a weekend, if I want), but I have to take the word of random people on a forum for the OPPO ![]() Also, the price gap is closed some by the fact that it's $65 minimum to ship the OPPO to Canada (and the exchange in currency, however small it is now). Anyone able to give me some personal experience comparisons? Thanks! |

some good numbers data. speed doesnt even come close.. but from the 17 page denon 2010 thread on AVS, the analog audio does get credit for being a little better

Speed is one of the most overrated specs, in my opinion. At first when we were talking about some standalones taking 3-5 minutes to get going, that's an issue but 30 seconds or so is absolutely nothing. I'm not that impatient.
Thanks for the link, I guess I have some reading to do! ![]() |

I think the best comparison of the chips is the ABT 1030 is similar to the HQV/IDT Reon (value oriented, limited cadence and options) as the ABT 2010 is to the HQV/Terranex Realta (flagship video). http://www.anchorbaytech.com/company...s/PR062509.php "Denon DBP-2010CI Blu-ray Player The DBP-2010CI Blu-ray player, part of Denon’s Custom Integration line, incorporates the ABT1030 chip to provide upconversion and IP scaling up to 1080p 50/60/24 rates. This Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player includes both BD Live and Bonus View functionality plus high-definition Dolby and DTS audio decoding at a price of $699, and is scheduled for July 2009 availability." You are much better off with the Oppo unless you are willing to bump up $1500 to the Denon 4010 or prefer analog audio quality over picture quality. |
