Default save last viewed chapter?

How is it possible given that BD is a more advanced technology than standard DVDs, that once I turn the BD player off, it doesn't remember where we left off once I turn it back on? It's obvious that its the discs since even in the BD player, the last location of standard DVDs will be remembered.

It's not all BD.

Only the ones that use JAVA are affected.

Java discs apparently need to be programmed to support the in player resume feature. I remember reading that there are 1-2 java based discs that have this capability (don't remember which). For those other java based discs try using the bookmark feature.
