Spam - Blu-ray Forum

Lately I've noticed spammers coming up or have they always been here?
Not to my recollection.
Whenever I see a thread advertising porn or products I immediately report it (or this one time actually).
I wonder if the developers here are going to tighten up to newcomers to further prevent spammers? Maybe only allowing newcomers to post in the Newbie Discussion for the first 5 posts?...
Nah, I guess there isn't much we can do about it.

I have no idea how vB works, but I would think that a mod or a supermod or someone like Iceman and Marwin have easy access to new posts. As long as we report them when we see them, they usually get cleared up pretty quickly.

If that's not the case, then instituting a minimum # of required posts in the "Newbie" section may not be a bad idea.

Something else. I don't think new members should be allowed to add links in their signature or anywhere in their posts. Where the cutoff for that is, I don't know.

Yes, I thought of that also.
It's like that in the Highdefdigest forums, but I rarely check their forums out, I like this place more.

it's not as bad here as it use to be. We use to get a whole lot of people or one person put up spam about Nike shoes. He was selling all kinds of Nike shoes.

I remember those. We had 5 or 6 a day on here.

The last one i saw here was last week about Tila Tequila and her....well you know.

Anyways the link was in there sig. Wierd. I'm guessing they can't put links in posts but found a way to put it in the sig. Maybe Iceman doesn't know about it.

There's normally a bunch of spammers posting spam gifs in in the Hot Deals section most days.

If you Google the member name there is a lot of recent activity under that name on a whole slew of pretty diverse messageboards. I think John's Spidey-Sense is working well on this one.
