Default PS3: Blu-ray movie won't continue playing after shutting off

Althought I have been visiting this forum for months, this is my first post. I saw that there was a PS3 forum (but it appeared to be just for BR games)....

Anyways, on to my question.

After pressing stop and shutting it down, how come my PS3 Blu-ray player won't continue playing the movie where it left off?

Instead, it loads the dvd as If I stuck it in for the first time. Then I have to find my scene, etc.

Is there a setting to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Some movies do this, some do not (I believe it is to do with JAVA software on some discs).

Go in to system menu and there is the option to turn this feature on and off for non java discs.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply.

However, do you mind being a little more specific (aka I'm pretty dumb).

I remember going through the settings, and I couldn't find a topic that came close to anything related to Java or Continued Disc Playing.

I appreciate it. =)

On menu go to;

settings

video settings

sequential playback ------turn on and it will now work.

Try it on multiple discs as the first one or two may not allow this.

You can also check the disc to see if it will allow you to bookmark it in places. Again only some do it.

all i've been able to gather is that some discs/studios have resume play and other don't (cause of java). But alot of the other ones add a bookmark feature for the ps3 controller/remote...
