Cool Demon's Souls or Dragon Age Origins

I am considering buying either of the above games. Demon's Souls looks badass, but I hear Dragon Age is gonna be cool. I've seen some gameplay footage of Dragon Age and I'm kinda shakey. What's up with the sudden pausing during fighting?

For those who currently own Demon's Souls, is it as good as it looks in previews? How does the online add to the gameplay?

Demon's Souls is great if you want a challenge. Dragon Age seems more like something to just play for fun.

Demons souls = time to change underwear. Dragon Age = DnD style play like before, but with a new story. Its also gimped and made to the lowest common denominator. That stinking POS is really hurting games and what they could be. But Im still buying it because Im an rpg junky.

I'm so curious about Demon's Souls myself after seeing reviews and hearing the positive buzz. Every once in a while, I can deal with a hard, challenging game.

But I'm not $60 curious. Maybe $35 curious. C'mon Gamestop B2G1 used....

Demon's Souls is way worth the $60 and it's been selling so well that Atlus has even started a whole 2nd shipment of them.

I see that the Deluxe Ed of Demon's Souls is sold out on Amazon. Any idea if they are gone for good or will they be available again?

I believe the Deluxe Editions are gone for good. I picked one up at launch as another member pointed out that Atlus game releases tend to be tough to find as time goes by. So it's good news that they shipping more of the regular edition.

Been playing Demons Souls for two days and it is very challenging and the demons have been handing my a$$ to me...it has a couple downsides like targeting issues and a lil slow/stutter in frame rate, but it is still worth playing and fun...like the rest have said they only seen trailers or limited game play of Dragon Age, so it is hard to make a full assessment of which one is worth the full price...I got DS deluxe edition for $50 from a member here, which was an awesome deal...

I would really stop knocking Dragon Age: Origins guys. It's made by Bioware, and from what I've seen so far, it looks massively deep. Each race and background has it's own storyline. It also affects how all the people in the world react to you based on your background.

I owned Demon's Souls, and it was fun. A lot of "Oh Snap!" moments. But I've noticed people have already beat it, less than 2 weeks after it came out.

I for one vote Dragon Age: Origins (assuming you won't have Modern Warfare 2 sucking up all your time) for the complexity and massive scale.

You said you "owned" Demon's Souls? Did you trade it in? If there's not a lot of replay value I don't know if I'd pick it up.

I have a small list of games that I plan on buying in the near future. I'm definitely gonna reserve Modern Warfare 2 (gotta do it soon, I'm running out of time). I also plan on buying Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition, I've been waiting to play it for a while. FIFA 10 just came out Tuesday and it looks really good!

Yeah I sold it in the trading forum for AGC's to buy Fallout 3 game of the year edition. Demon's Souls is extremely fun, for those with a lot of patience. I would definitely recommend a rent on that first so you don't end up throwing your controller at something. F3 GOTY will get much more replay with me, that's why I went for it.

MW2 and Dragon Age: Origins are rounding out my year alongside Borderlands. That is plenty of gaming. But people are having a blast with DS so maybe it's just not my thing.

Reserve MW2 from Amazon and you get a $15 gift card off a future game purchase. So you can get MW2 then Dragon Age for 45

Already have my preorder for Dragon Age. For some reason Demon Souls never caught my eye. Will end up renting it eventually, if we ever get to a slow point in releases

Im not really "knocking it" since its not even out yet, but it has been gimped from what it could have been. Bioware ran out of room on a single DVD so a lot of the PC voiceover was convereted to text. Also, the gameplay vids show decent graphics, but nothing mindblowing. I am still getting it because I am a hardcore RPG junky especially when for the DnD genre, but Im dissapointed that its been gimped.

But DS is a totally different style of game. They should not be compared. Its also not as hard as people are making it seem. Maybe Im just too good because I grew up with a controller in my hand and I love a good challenge. Dont get me wrong, its difficult, and you can not play sloppy, but its pretty easy for me. Im actually let down at how easy the boss fights have been

In my opinion, I think that they made it that way due to how difficult it is to actually get to the bosses and then all the consequences if you died at the boss. (I.E. not dying once going all the way back to the boss in order to recover your souls)
