Need = Audio system for PS3

Ok so now the only think i need is a sound system, something good that projects sound, because right now the sounds comes out of the back of my HDTV, right into my "soon to be born this coming tuesday" daughter's room wall.

I'm ready to invest, but i don't need the kick-ass system that blows everyone's mind, i need something that i can lower the bass, and make the sound and voice project away from the tv, toward me and my wife, around 7 feet away from the screen.

My main and only multimedia system is my PS3, so something that would go well with it (I imagine a SONY product...)

Budget is around 500 to 1000, i'm in Canada so can't buy stuff from Amazon.com

I'll probably buy from Futureshop or Bestbuy.

And i'd like to get some "pillar speakers" i think they look nice, but it's only an option. Also 5.1 is quite enough, no room for a 7.1 system. Piano Black look is always a nice addition.

So if anyone can help me, i'd appreciate a lot
