Germany Ever heard of these steels?(Metal-Pak)

I visited few of MediaMarkts yesterday and saw these at those stores. And since I never heard of these (and it aint in the Complete list thread), thought you might be interested (even tho its just a crapload of B movies).

So, does anyone have these?

st39.6, you need to know that Steelbooks collectors despise Metalpaks, for some unknown reason There is a thread about it: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=80784

I´ve been collecting Steels for like two weeks, so I´m kinda new to all this bussines . Even tho I´ve heard about metal-pack, I never really had one in my hands. And I didnt look on the spines, had only time to take pics and leave ... didnt even think of fact that it could be not steel
ok then, sorry for false alert guyz, hope you still like me

btw metal-packs dont have any value? just because its a "steelbook rip-off"?

It's more like an alternative product. Some of them tend to hold their value, like Rambo Trilogy, but I can't recall anything besides it. There biggest problem with them is there are no classy movies released in Metalpaks. There was one that had a chance to become valuable - The Wrestler - but then the German SB alternative came out

I don't look at it in terms of value, but more in the quality of the product. I have a Metalpak, and maybe it is just me, but the metal seems thinner when compared to a Sb. The hinge spine also looks f-ugly when compared to SteelBooks. I might be biased in my opinion, but I just think the way a SteelBook looks open with the spine inside being flat and having artwork on it looks 100 times better than what a Metalpak looks like. I've also heard of problems with the hinges for these Metalpaks. I only have one, so I can't say much about that since mine is okay (it's a dvd one for Doomsday). While there are also potential problems for the hinges of a SteelBook since it is merely plastic, I'll take my chances with a SteelBook over a squeaky, f-ugly spine, thinner metal Metalpak. I have not seen what the blu-ray Metalpaks look like, but I think most of the ones I've heard about have dark grey or black plastic inside them, and very seldom do they have artwork inside.

Hey longtime posters, and BD Steelbook collectors/professionals/aficionados...

This post (like mine from yesterday), really does highlight a need for a BD Steelbook F&Q to be stickied at the top of the Steelbook discussion thread. Perhaps just an update to jwbbud's "What is a Steelbook" sticky.

It would seem that more Blu-ray.com readers/posters are getting into Steelbooks (which, as a whole I would think is a good thing). But we obviously lack some of the knowledge of you longtime collectors. I.E. st39.6 and myself.

I already had to look up what "Amaray" was this morning, "Media Markt" yesterday, and until reading this post; I had no idea what a "Metal-Pak" was.

Just my $0.02

Good suggestion and I would say it is worth at least $0.05

I'd like to repeat my proposition from last couple of weeks - we need a sticky definitive Metal-Pak list. If a title is not on the definitive SB list, it doesn't necessarily make it a Metal-Pak (like the ommited French Mist). Plus, new members will have it easier to look for the titles they are interested in.

This is a SteelBook forum, why would we sticky a Metal case thread?

So that users won't get confused - you can see how many new people doesn't recognize the difference between SB and MP. Definitive list of what releases are NOT SteelBooks would be simply helpful, especially now, when even FutureShop will be getting MetalPaks.
