Sadly the title has DNR all over it.
If you'd really like to buy the film, I'd strongly recommend to get the new UK version from hmv.co.uk which is unfiltered.

Great movie! But I'm waiting for an ultimate edition with all versions of the movie (it WILL come). Theatrical cut, Romero's directors cut and Argento's alternative cut.

KENTA: love your Bergman quote!

Maybe it's because this title came out at a time where reviewers weren't educated on the subject digital noise reduction...
Just look at the screencaps on blu-ray.com and compare them with the new UK release.
The Anchor Bay textures are muddy with grain filtered out, whilst the UK version has the grain in it.

Ya this is true. The Divimax process Anchor Bay uses in general includes adding DNR to their transfers.

If that's the case (regarding DNR) is AB's Halloween filtered too? I've been holding off on those titles in hopes for bigger editions down the road. Which if I know AB, will certainly be the case.

Default Nope.

Overuse of DNR as others have just said... Nothing too terrible but any 'noticeable' DNR cheapens the experience!

Let me clear things up by saying it has more than a 'little bit'

but it's not the worst DNR disaster ever... still unacceptable IMO

If you can't see it in the screen shoots than you won't be bothered.

I tried, the UK versions didn't have any screen caps. Post them on here so we can see the difference.

I don't know what DNR looks like, I can't tell when its used or not. I looked at the screen caps of the U.S. release and they looked fine to me.

I can't make any screencaps, as I don't have a BD drive, but you can find some over at AVS.

KENTA's right, the UK release looks a good deal better... Facial details are clearly Improved.

It is not a prefect transfer, but pretty good IMHO. For $13... I say buy it! The PQ is much better than that of the original Halloween. I own the DVd and that has a lot of "noise", which has been cleaned up for this release. The colors look very good too.
