Surround sound for ps3?

I was wondering if there was a surround sound system thy works well with a ps3. I've recently been looking into surround sound systems but all of them have a player with them. I'm just looking for something like a woofer and 2 speakers as it's a small room but I don't want a whole other player with it. And if so how does it work. Through hdmi or what? Thanx

2nd on the budget.

The PS3 works great w/ any system that has an HDMI input, and OK with a system w/ an optical input.

Might want to get a stand alone receiver that you can build on then getting a box Home Theater that gives you a weak receiver and even weaker speakers.
But Happy to say you did come to the right place and these members will give you fantastic advice, they've never let me down.

Two years ago I was in the same predicament as you but took the HDMI receiver and 5.1 speaker option, which cost me about £1200. If you don't want to go nuts, check out the Onkyo HTX-22HD 2.1 HD Speaker system below.

I'm not looking to go crazy expensive but I also don't mind spending a few bucks for quality. I have no idea how they even work. Like what kind of system to get. Any reccomendations
