Default Brutal Legend Graphics

I played the demo on my PS3 and thought that the game looked pretty good. Last night when I played the full game via the blu ray disk I was not impressed. I am pretty sure the game is not running full 1080P (which both my TV, and Receiver can handle). The PS3 OS is running 1080P, but the game does not at all look good, and when a friend came online the pop up window was much larger then usual in game. There are no in game settings to select your resolution either.

Has anyone seen or heard of such an issue?

I rented it from Gamefly and had the same exact issue and never saw anyone else complain so I figured that it was just me thinking it was bad graphics and it was the norm.

The back of the game states it does 1080P, so who knows. Thankfully I didn't buy the game, my brother did. At least I am not the only one.

Mine looked pretty good

Keep in mind that 1080p is just the resolution, that doesn't automatically mean that it will have stunning graphics. If you look at character/world design, you'll see that it is purposely cartoonish. That probably saves processing power for calculating movements, battle systems, calculations, etc.

side note: any of you have the 6 degrees of schafer trophy yet?

well this has me worried. I just picked it up with the B2G1 free sale at best buy because I did really enjoy the play and look of the demo.

Is it bad enough for me to take it back for something else? or is it worth keeping with the gameplay alone?

I honestly didn't think it looked bad. I think they could have spent a little more time to put more polygons into the characters, but it was fine. The story and soundtrack are top-knotch. Very fun game.

The graphics look fine to me . . . no difference between the demo and the full version.

The gameplay/type of game it is, on the other hand, was not represented very well in the demo, which is kind of disappointing.

Was thinking of getting this. How does the game differ from the demo? Do you regret getting it at all?

I'm referring to the resolution. It switches to like 420p (I think). The way I know is when I hit the PS Button, the XMB is extremely large in comparison to normal.

Only if you didn't pick up Uncharted 2.
I've played a good chunk of Brutal Legend and it was good,Not jaw dropping or anything, but my only issue is the replay value, I don't find myself wanting to go back to it as quickly as some games.
I didn't play the demo so I can't comment on the graphics between the two, but I though the full release looked good. The voice acting is first rate along with the audio quality.
I also agree with a earlier poster, I myself didn't realize it was along the lines of a open world and real time strategy.

Oh, I haven't noticed that at all.... I've activated the XMB quite a few times during this game as well.

This is what I am seeing as well. Maybe it is something with my system I don't know, the game looked really pretty when I played the demo at full resolution. I just don't understand why it is dropping resolutions to play off the disk.

It won't hurt the gameplay, it isn't horrible.

I don't really know what anyone is complaining about. I played through the entir e game on Brutal difficulty on my 1080p screen. Never really had any issue with the graphic quality - sure, the native resolution might have been a bit better, but honestly, BFD. The game is entertaining - and on Brutal, fairly challenging as well.

Guys there is LITTERALLY NO difference in quality of graphics between the demo and full game. The audio is infact improved though.

For some people yes there is and I am unsure of what the issue would be. I came here to see if I was the only person, obviously I am not. I found a thread in the Brutal Legend forum as well as at gamespot.

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-XBR4 40inch LCD and Sony STR-DG720 receiver, both of which can handle 1080P. The graphics impressed me when I played the demo, when I play the disk the resolution decreases. Can I still play and enjoy the game play of course.

Have you guys tried to run it in 720p (ps3 setting) and see if there is a difference in the look??? Sometimes the game is suppose to run in 720p and when it has to upscale to 1080p it looks crappy...

Try unchecking 480p in the video settings of the PS3.

Thats not an option unfortunately. I'll try unchecking 1080p/i when I get home.

I've encountered this issue at work before, and here's how you fix it:

From your XMB™ menu, go to Settings and select Display Settings. Then make sure you check off all the boxes (so don't only select 480p and 1080p). Fixed.

I have the same issue and all the boxes are checked for me.
