Default Forrest Gump BD at Best Buy

Any idea why there would be two versions of the Forrest Gump BD (not the chocolate box set either).

SKU: 9537441
and
SKU: 9537325

Two Different prices, one for 20.99 the other for 24.49

I ordered the $24.99 and I believe it's the Chocolate Box-Set.. so to me it makes sense.

If it's not the box-set I'm going to return it and get it from Amazon.

You're paying way more on tax, than youll get in RZ points. Im a RZ credit card/silver member, it takes a LONG time to get gift certificates. Youre almost ALWAYS better off buying from Amazon.

Nothing against Amazon but with my Best Buy Reward Zone points, I was able to get a $15 iTunes card and a $20 XBox Live points card.

I then used the iTunes card to pay the (then) $10 upgrade fee for the v3.0 iPod Touch upgrade and the Live points to get Secret of Monkey Island.

Thus, Best Buy paid for my iPod Touch upgrade and the game. Plus I had credit/points left over for more music and games thanks to Best Buy paying me back.

So its NOT always better buying from Amazon. Especially if you can end up getting items free with your rewards.

But to get the points necessary to get those "free" items, you would have spent more at Best Buy (gives you 2.5 percent back) than you would have if you went to Amazon, not paid the tax (usually around 6 percent), and then used those savings to outright purchase the products. Unless there's a deal, you're killing your wallet if you overlook discounts at other stores because of loyalty to one certain store and its "rewards". But, hey, those customer rewards programs are around for a reason (OfficeMax has one??)-- people do it.

Well, I generally do shop around and bought Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at Wal-Mart for $13.00 despite the reward points at Best Buy.

I also could have drove to Best Buy to price match Toys R Us' Buy 2 Get 1 Free Video Game deal but instead just bought them there.

So there are people who feel the "reward progam" is a rip-off. That is your opinion and I never stated how I got those points either. For all you know, I could have bought refill cards for my brother's Boost Mobile phone which is the same price regardless of where you shop.

But hey, continue believing that I "waste" my money and energy. If I forgot someone's birthday, I don't have the time to wait for Amazon.com to ship it to me. I'll run to the nearest store that has that item I want and buy it off the shelf. Reward program or not.

Getting back on topic:

This SKU 9537325 is the Chocolate Box gift set, its the way Best Buy compresses images. The regular BD has the sapphire "blades" on the uper left hand and lower right corners and that SKU is 9537441.

Well, I'll tell you one place where BB rewards work well for me. I'm the "tech guy" among friends, so people always take me down to Best Buy when they need to pick up something for their home theatre or computer. These folks don't need anything fancy, so Best Buy usually has something that will work for them and all I ask for my expertise is that when we check out we use my rewards card. I bought Wii Fit and two Blu-rays off of coupons a few months back.

As for myself, I only use Best Buy for Blu-rays on those rare occasions when I want to pick it up right away (like Trek 2009).

I almost never find it worth shopping at Best Buy these days. First of all, my nearest store is almost 15 miles away and it can be a pain to get there after work on weekdays. I also prefer Amazon with Prime shipping. I get all my movies on the release date and usually get movies the next day with free 2-day shipping because my shipping center is so close. Amazon almost always matches the best deals at Best Buy, so I can usually save myself a trip if I'm patient. I'm hoping Amazon matches Best Buy's price on Gump by the release date.

That's not how it works. You end spending more money on a store that charges more, for little payback. Had you just spent all that money on amazon, you would have gotten all those things for less.

I almost never order from Amazon anymore which is sad because I used to only order through them. But since they put an end to their "post price guarantee," I've lost a lot of respect for them. So I let my prime membership expire and now I find it worth paying the tax difference so that I can get it on the release day and not a week later. Plus I get my reward zone points for my purchases.

Oh well, I heard that plenty of times. Reason why I'm getting it from BB is because it's a box set and I want to make sure I'm getting the best looking one without worrying about Amazon shipping it out and I'll be worried about damage to the box itself. Happened to me before and I ended up exchanging it and waiting an additional week for it.

I did the same thing with Wizard of Oz, I used my $10 discount at BB.

If you get the Amazon Visa card you get 3 pts for every $1 you spend and you get Amazon GC's once you accrue enough pts So no sales tax and the GC's

That's exactly what I do. It works out to having to spend about 160 dollars in order to get 5 dollars worth of certificates (although the lowest you can redeem is at 25 dollars)
