I like all types, but since Friday the 13th is in the gore genre of horror, of course that gets my vote! Got Em!!

The Exorcist FTW! But yes I love films like this instead of the slasher films. I watched Halloween (1978) again last night and I can't believe how terrible the acting and the plot is ( its been 15 years since I watched it). Just pure junk....I mean I have seen better acting in films like "The Pirate Movie".

I tend to like both genres of horror however I guess I lean more towards the gore riden horror films like 28 Days Later, Saw and Nightmare on Elm Street so I voted for that.

I voted for gore because I am into the 80's slashers. But I enjoy both types

Supernatural films definitely. I certainly enjoy the better slasher films like Halloween or Texas Chainsaw and some 80's camp classics, but typically, I find the gore/slasher genre to be a bore.

How about a third category:Movies so bad they make you physically nauseous

Don't much like horror, but I think I side with bump in the night.Only horror I really enjoyed was the ring and grudge-think the american versions but not sure. . . .Really creepy, but in a good way

Oh.The opening in 'The shining' has to be the best ever, but that's more in line of cinematography so bit off-topic.

Gore and torture are two completely different categories. I voted for it though because I like the slasher films the best (F13th, NoES, Halloween, TCM etc...) but I HATE torture films like Hostel & Saw.

I like the thriller/suspense/boo type. Despise the torture genre.

True that.. Gore and torture are definitely different things.. I can't stand watching torture movies, especially rape torture. Thats why i refuse to watch Last House on The Left and a few other movies with rape in it. I do like gore though, zombie/slashers are really fun to watch imo.

Absolutely!

I burned out on the slasher thing years ago, but I have never had any use whatsoever for the torture stuff -- I see no entertainment in that at all. Give me lots of atmosphere, good characters, and a good creepy story.

I like the Supernatural/Bump In The Night one. It's definitely the root for good horror flicks.

Depends if I actually want to get a little freaked or not. Gore never scares and is mostly laughable to me. Supernatural stuff tends to raise the hair a tad. My vote is for the Exorcist type.

Default That's pretty tough....

It's hard for me to lump torture porn with slasher's, zombie flicks, etc. I consider them be completely separate sub-genres of horror.

I myself don't dig on too many torture porn films. I love slasher, zombie and other gory horror films though. I just can't put say Saw 6 or Hostel in the same category as Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Friday The 13th, and likewise with Dawn of the Dead or Dead Alive.

Over all though, if we're talking what scares me more, it is definitely more paranormal movies than gore-fests. I think they illicit totally different reactions. Paranormal Activity actually got me pretty scared a few times, and I haven't been scared in a movie theater since I was a very young child. So I had to vote on Supernatural/Bump in the Night.
