I got the following email which basically said:
"Thank you for your recent order from WBshop.com! Unfortunately, the item you ordered, Gone with the Wind: Ultimate Collector's Edition Blu-Ray, is out of stock and we do not expect more inventory in time to fulfill your order. Accordingly, we have removed these items from your order. Please accept our apologies for this unexpected situation. We sincerely hope you will find something else among our vast selection of Warner Bros. products." I found it very unusual for two reasons: 1. I placed my order several months ago. I would think I would be among the first to get it when it does come in stock. 2. They still list it on the WB site. I ordered it months ago when we had those Buy 2, Get 1 codes stacked with others. Maybe they caught on. But it could also be because the third item in my order was the Lord of the Rings set, which they no longer list on the site. And that would get rid of the B2G1 savings. They've said I can take $10 off my next order with them to make up for it. The first item in my order was the Woodstock UCE. That was the free item because it was the cheapest of the three. But now I'm hoping it really will be free because when I go into my WB account, it shows the order for GWTW and LOTR cancelled, and there have been no bank charges for the Woodstock Blu set they sent me quite awhile ago (well, no charges yet, anyway)! I am at least glad I got the notice today so I can order it from Amazon before the BB sale ends tonight. Anybody else have their order cancelled? Last edited by bluskies; 10-31-2009 at 01:15 PM. |

I know. I've gotten postcards form them in the past where they said they were sorry for the delay on shipping some items - items that were not due out for months - and wondered if I wanted to cancel....which I didn't, of course. (And, LOL, a few days ago, I received a postcard saying they apologize for the delay but they didn't know when an item I ordered would be shipped...an item that I had gotten a few weeks before from them. But with GWTW, they didn't even ask me. They just cancelled it straight out.

I got the same notice yesterday oddly enough for the same titles except switch out True Blood for Woodstock as the free title.
I don't see how they can now charge me for something they sent me months ago. WB chose to cancel those items, I was happy to wait it out. So it is their loss as far as I'm concerned. |

Interesting. I'm going to keep an eye on my bank account over the next week or so, just to make sure. If they do charge me the full amount for Woodstock, I will complain. But if they don't, and I get it for no charge, then by ordering GWTW from Amazon today, it would mean I am paying roughly $23 each for the GWTW and Woodstock UCEs. Hard to beat that.

I got the email too, but I suspect it's really because of LOTR (though it says GWTW). The timing, days before LOTR's pre-delay release date (11/3), suggests that's the real problem.
Oh well; I still got Austin Powers for free. ![]() I did tinker with reordering GWTW from WBShop after the email, but even with the $10 apology code (and free shipping)--other current codes won't work--it's still more expensive than Amazon or Best Buy. Am debating whether to go Amazon with a Prime trial (no tax and free release-date delivery, but with the hassle of either cancelling or paying $79 later on) or Best Buy (pay tax, but in-store release-date pickup plus Reward Zone points and no Prime-trial hassle). Right now, both options cost slightly less than what I would have paid WBShop if their order had held up. (Edit: WBShop charges tax in AR. Also, since Best Buy's 30%-off sale ends today & Amazon's "price-match" will likely go away shortly thereafter, I'll have to decide quickly.) Last edited by RBBrittain; 10-31-2009 at 03:56 PM. I received my notice as well but for the single disc edition. It seems obvious that they were not going to ship it for about 3 weeks now since they removed the single-disc edition.
But why wait 3 weeks to inform the customer? ![]() |

I had the following order:
-GWTW-UCE (Cancelled) -LOTR (Cancelled) -Sarah Connors S2 (Free) -Sarah Connors S1 (Shipped $24.75) -300 Digibook ($24.75) -Wild Pacific (Free) Sarah Connor was the only thing available when I placed the order, and that got shipped right away. They have been sitting on the rest ever since. I got 2 separate cancellation notices. One for LOTR, one for GWTW (I was told that GWTW was a compute mistake). I got 2 separate $10 coupons. CS told me that 300, Wild Pacific, and Sarah Connor S2 will ship Monday. I avoided asking him what was being charged, but I can't see them being able to charge me more then $24.75 without my approval. This will be interesting. Fortunately, I got the cancellation in time to order GWTW from Amazon during the sale. Is there anything worth getting with the $10 off $20 coupons? They don't stack. Many blu's are just under $20, and if I don't order 2, I get dingged for shipping. Anyone find a deal there to burn these coupons on??? |

I just got notice the LOTR was cancelled...With $10 off my next order.
My order was for 2 copies of LOTR and John Adams for free...which I already have. I would not have purchased John Adams unless it was discounted...wonder if they plan to bill me now for it? If not...free is a GREAT deal. |

I view my order process and now they charging for regular price for the one they had shipped for free with the order.
No way wanted to pay for $23.00 for 10,000BC. I might have to call them. |

I got an email for LOTR today, along with a second $10-off-$20 code--this one good thru June 2010 (the first was thru the end of 2009). Meanwhile, I went ahead and preordered thru Amazon with the Prime trial. (I'll be ordering some CDs from them as well before the trial ends.)
I'm a bit afraid they'll try to undo their "mistake" on GWTW--if not recoup the cost of Austin Powers--but in either case they'll have to figure out how to charge a cancelled credit card. ![]() |

I got the email that they had cancelled my entire order because of gwtw and lotr. But then I got a new email saying that they were reinstating my gwtw order and that I would still receive terminator s2 for free so it ended up being a better deal since now I dont have to pay for LOTR.
