Question Surround sound adjustments with lpcm

Just wondering if someone can make adjustments to sound levels in surround speakers while listening to lpcm? My receiver can accept lpcm but not DD HD or DTS-HDMA. My BD is set to send all audio as LPCM to my receiver. And does making adjustments in sound levels for the core DD and DTS have any affect on lpcm? I don't believe so. Right now all I do is turn the master volume up and lpcm does sound great though.

thanks

Why can't you do as I do. I let my player do all the decoding and I run it directly through my receiver to the speakers.

Let you player (LG BD370 can decode all formats) do the same, decode and pass it through.

I don't understand why you are just using lpcm! Your BD can decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio Essential or it can also bitstream to your receiver which can decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.

Your missing out!!!

he already stated that his receiver can't decode the lossless codecs onboard (check post #1) and his player is doing the decoding onboard of those lossless codecs and it must then be sent in the LPCM format. so, what are you telling him?

i would tell you to check your calibration and re-do it if you have not. also, what are your speaker levels set to? if turning up the master volume a little bit is good enough, i recommend just do that. and yes, making level adjustments the wrong way will not hurt or harm but may make your sound "level" issues worse. of course raising your surround speakers' level a notch or two might just do the trick for ya so, give it a try. just write down what level your surrounds are at before you change them. remember, surround sound effects are not always going to be going on. don't set your level so high that it over takes the front 3 speakers.

Great advice solarrdadd...Question when I try to change the sound level or db on the surrounds the adjustments' on the receiver are dimmed and I can't change the db while BD is playing LPCM. Is the sound levels preset out of the BD? Also Im thinking of buying a TRipplite surge protector any suggestions? Thanks
