Default Hddvd Will Win....

HD-DVD will win unless Fox gets off there ass and starts making blu-rays. Its BS fox might as well not make movies in hi-def they havent put any out. Dont get me wrong I am a huge blu-ray supporter (have only had my ps3 a month and own 17 blu-ray's) but I am getting worried cause UNIVERSAL is releasing everything and the kitchen sink while the blu-ray studios are taking there f'ing time. WHy dont they just release a bunch of catalog titles and end this format war by christmas.

Yeah and despite Uni's onslaught of catalogue titles Blu-ray is still the leader on a weekly basis in sales and has been since 12.24.06

You're deluded if you seriously believe this.

Cheek the Nielsen sales, check the Box Office figures. I rest my case.

No, I dont really believe this, it just pisses me off. Its annoying that so many studios say they support blu-ray but arent actually doing all that much.

I hope fox does start to announce a few titles. It seems like the last week or so has been pretty strong for Blu-ray announcements. It would be nice to see the trend continue.

Not to mention quality vs quantity...many of Uni's latest releases have not exactly been stellar.

There is a valid reason why Fox is holding out - they want the added protection of BD+. There is nothing wrong with trying to protect your assets.

just be patient...we are still in the early stages of all of this....

we are all early adopters...

and while we are missing out on alot of great titles...we are still getting almost all the new releases and some good movies on the side...

they can only cater so much to such a small market and it will only be a matter of time since they were pretty much waiting on BD+...

I don't know what stage BD-J is in though....and I am pretty sure that is what has been holding up movies like Batman Begins and other popular Warner titles..

Fox is just waiting for BD+ to be finalized (which adds more protection against illegal disc copying).

It should be out before Christmas this year.

BD+ adds about 4 weeks to the production process, and they want to test titles on players before they announce them. If they don't test them, they could release them and then player manu's might have to rush to make firmware updates if there were any problems. Then people couldn't play the discs they have for a while, and then BD gets into an issue like Uni had with Children of Men and The Good Shephard.

Also, earlier on you said you don't really believe this, "this" being your original post. So why did you write it? Also, look at the reviews of all of Uni's titles, the quality is, for the most part, crappy. People want hi-def for the quality. And also, BD+ and BD-J 1.1 will be ready for the holidays, so they can end the war DURING Xmas.

Universal's new releases are crap quality wise. Fox titles are coming, don't worry. Look at the sales and rental numbers, blu-ray is winning big time. Locked.
