Even though they don't have a post-price guarantee any longer, it would not hurt to politely email them and ask. It has been done in the past and the worst they can say is no.

If the movie is unopened, you can always return it. Also, suppose they charge your CC for a Tuesday release on Monday at the time of shipment. However, on the date of release (Tuesday) the price drops on the item. Per their pre-order policy, a refund for the difference must be given.

What about if the price goes up before the item ships? I'm not sure if that would actually happen, but I guess it could. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is only $16.99 right now. I want to jump on that deal for that price but don't want to pre-order it in case the price goes back up before it ships. If I order it for $16.99 is that the highest price I would pay?

It's all a guessing game. Three movies I pre-ordered during the BB 30% sale/Amazon PM are now each up 3 or 4 bucks. Yeah, if you're willing to wait then you'll usually come out ahead but sometimes it pays to jump in early. I'd be shocked if Terminator: Salvation is below $16.99 anytime soon.

I sure wish they would! I've been meaning to order the Nightmare before Christmas for my girlfriend for ages, but I had been waiting for some kind of sale.
I finally plunked down $20 for it last night. Lo and behold I see it today at the top of blu-ray.com for $4 less. Yeah, it's $4, big deal, but I still feel gipped! update: Quote:

given that 3 items in an order have all 'fallen' in price over the past 2 days. (all the pre-order titles) .... what is the turn around time to 'visually' see these price changes on the order ??
each is still showing the original order price. |

There are exceptions to Amazon's post-price protection policy.
I ordered 2 titles yesterday and within 1-2 hours they dropped in price by $1 each. I called Amazon and told them I just ordered these titles. After checking, they agreed to give me the credit. Of course, if you get the wrong Customer Service rep, he/she could just say that once the items ships, there is nothing they can do. ![]() |
