Default What is your favorite Blu Ray aspect ratio???

Well since i paid $3000 for my tv and blu's are not cheap ( ) i like the larger ( 1:85:1 ratio... Not completely full screen but very close... I feel robbed when i get a 2:31 aspect ratio

1:85:1. Is that widescreen?

Pinocchio was full screen and hated it.

Think of it as a picture frame. That's all it is. A frame to showcase the movie in its correct form.

Widescreen is 2.35:1, and 1.78:1 or 1.85:1 are full screen. I'd rather see OAR, but it is nice to see a 1.85:1 that fills up my TV.

Can't wait to get a projector and a 120" screen someday, then 2.35:1 will seem EPIC!

I don't believe that's correct. Full screen is 1.33:1 unless you are talking about the full screen image of a widescreen TV.

Pinocchio was 1.33:1 and you should have watched it in Disney view with the beautiful artwork filling in the black bars on the side. Snow White is the same.

Which is why technologically outdated, vague terms like "fullscreen" and "widescreen" should just be abandoned in favor of non-ambiguous numeric ratios.

And I like not losing out on anything the director wants to show me as a viewer, so I enjoy and prefer to watch movies in whatever aspect ratio they were shot and intended to be presented

Orry. I guess I should have said "fills the screen" Didnt know they made $3000 tube tv s

But I think everyone with the OAR comments isn't getting what I'm saying. Yes I want to see it the way it was intended as well. What I'm saying tho is that I like when they use a 1.85:1 ratio as there are no black bars and it fills up my widescreen.

I was referring to Blu Ray Fanatics comment, I was just going by his words.

But yeah, I hear ya man. I don't think anyone really loves the black bars I love 2.35:1 but we take a small hit on image size when we watch it on a TV. When everyone watches a 1.85:1 blu with great PQ, it's a badass experience! But they all look great on a big screen. Someday....someday

Of course OAR, but I find scope films to be more cinematic.
