Default Neutral Movie Houses

How can companies like Warner justly calling themselves Neutral when they release their titles on different formats at different times.

For example I'm really looking forward to seeing;

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
Constantine
Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire
The Matrix

All of which are available on HD DVD but not out on Blu Ray yet. Have they even attempted an excuse for this yet?...

Shame on Warner!, I hope the execs are enjoying their back handers.

They are timed exclusives, warner has been waiting for the whole bd-j to be finalized, now that more blu ray discs are using bd-j I'm sure we'll start seeing releases of these on blu. Matrix probably early next year, troy is already coming soon, november I believe it was.

So they did have an excuse, a poor one but an excuse none the less. They REALLY need to get cracking now though hey.
I'd have been happy with a Java free version of the titles I mentioned though, all I really care about is the films.

not really some of them don't have PiP on the HD DVD, so they really play us for fools when they say PiP is the reason.

Problem is, if they released in Q4 they'd be flooding the Blu-ray release schedule with key catalog titles just as HD DVD was in a last gasp struggle for survival.

I'll bet Warner won't release them until next year.

Right now I'd have to say BD sales of Warner discs are about perfect. We are all complaining bitterly about Warner every chance we get AND Blu-ray versions are consistently outselling HD DVD versions.

Warner is left wondering how much more product they could have moved if they gave the BD consumer a full BD product.

Gary

To be completely honest all I care about is being able to buy the films I want now. I can accept that not all the titles I want will be out immediately but if a company says it's neutral then I think it's only fair that we Blu Ray owners have the same releases available to us at the same time as HD DVD owners.

That's a solid point and I agree a movie should be released for both formats at the same time, NO excuses!

I wouldn't worry to much about this. As the death of HD-DVD becomes more prominent we should start seeing a lot of things on blu-ray that don't come out on HD-DVD. At this point would you want them to be fair and continue to realese everything on HD-DVD?

We already see a far larger variety of film houses releasing a wide array of titles on Blu Ray. Which I'm sure was one of the deciding factors for many people when choosing which format to support. When making the decision I did not know Warner were going to give us their titles months if not years after HD DVD were given them.

I don't understand what you mean there?...how would it be fair to release everything on HD DVD? That's my point entirely, it's not fair for them to be releasing them on HD DVD first. It's like fixing a fight, or handicapping one horse, or in this case, giving HD DVD a head start.

Warner, even today, still seems to be more one sided to hd dvd for some reason, yet they wont say it but they know their blu ray is selling more. Paramount is like opposite they seem to favor blu ray more and barely acknowledge hd dvd.

Do Warner and Toshiba have the same parent company or something?...there must be some financial link here otherwise both HD DVD and Blu Ray would be being treated equally.

Is Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire on HD-DVD, I didn't think it was on either format yet?

no WB as well as New Line and HBO are owned by Time Warner. WB had a lot of patents in DVD and a lot in HD DVD. According to rumours, it was TW that forced WB to go neutral in the first place and supposedly told them that their job is to sell movies and not patents.
