Harry Potter is my vote. It'll win by a sizable amount, not a landslide.

I'm buying both, though.

I think HP would out sell Star Trek simply because it's probably more popular.

For me, I'm not into both of these series so I don't think I'll be buying any of them.

Harry Potter just because its Harry Potter.

Star Trek is by far my favorite movie of the year though!

I will buy Star Trek and not Harry Potter, but HP will certainly sell more.

Harry Potter, mostly because a} it's closer to Christmas, and b} it's fanbase is more geared towards children/tweens/teens.

Also, it's box office was significantly larger (over $800 million), wheras Star trek was around $380 million.

Partly due to the wider audience.

That's why Hollywood is going for PG-13 on everything now instead of 'R'

I'm only going to buy Star Trek until the Ultimate Editions of Harry Potter are released, and so far the only ones announced for release are The Sorcerer's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets. It's my understanding they'll be released two at a time.

Who or what is a Harry Potter?

Star Trek, already ordered at best buy, will pickup that same day.

I don't think there is any doubt that HP will sell more. It's just got a larger fanbase. That being said, I'm buying two versions of Star Trek (Steelbook and collectible ship figurine) and not buying HP at all, as I never got into that series.

Without question Harry Potter is going to demolish the sales of Star Trek. It has fans in way too broad of a spectrum.

I don't think there is any question HP will win this one. I actually enjoyed ST more than HP6, but it'll still win.

Although Star Trek in my opinion is a superior movie, Harry Potter will generate more BD sales than Star Trek simply because of it's larger worldwide fanbase. Just by looking at Harry Potter international grosses vs Star Trek the answer is quite clear.

Domestic wise Star Trek may come close to Harry Potter's number but I still don't believe it will surpass Harry Potter sales in the states either. However, I won't be adding Harry Potter in my collection, BUT I will a definitely make Star Trek part of my BD library.

HP will sell more since kids movies usually do well in sales of DVD/blu's.
