Default The Greatest Film Directed by Clint Eastwood

With the release of Invictus coming soon Im curious as to everyones choices of Mr Eastwoods directing jobs - Theres a lot of diversity here so this should be interesting.

I voted for Unforgiven as I think its one of the most realistic examinations of the Western, and gave Clint his greatest role.

Wow, I really don´t know. Clint usually just makes great movies. That´s his thing.

I guess I´m gonna choose "Gran Torino", but I´m not sure if this pick is because it was the most recent impact of his movies. They usually last until the next one

I didnt know he directed some of those... I had to go with Gran Torino, it was such a powerful film.

I was very impressed with The Changeling as well, Heartbreak Ridge was really good too.

Unforgiven was perfect. I'm a fan of Gran Torino and I think that Clint did a great job with Letters from Iwo.

I went with Letters from Iwo Jima. Eastwood is probably my favorite director behind Tarantino and Scorsese, so I like quite a lot of his films, but Letters... was just perfect IMO. Definitely one of the best of the decade.

That man is one of my all time favorites!!

I hope he graces our prescence another 20 years!

One of the few that i TRULY admire - Hollywood or anywhere

And I went with Million Dollar Baby. Though I'd put Gran Torino up there right behind it. I haven't watched Unforgiven in a while. I have - but thaven't - watched Iwo Jima...yet. And I don't think it was his best but did enjoy Space Cowboys a lot

Agreed. I was in the Marines when Flags/Letters came out. Many Marines were psyched up for it. I saw Flags and thought...wow...it was ok..but it just didn't do it for me. I was hesitant with Letters at first. I finally got around to seeing it and it was a 10/10. Such a wonderful film.

This thread amuses me a bit as I am not a big fan of Clint Eastwood. However, there is no doubt that as an actor he is iconic and as a director, he is one of this decade's finest.

I voted for Changeling, as I think it is his best film on the list that he directed, although I think Mystic River is just as good. It is impossible for me to pick between the two.

However, I think his best directing job was Letters From Iwo Jima, and to a lesser extentFlags of Our Fathers.

Unforgiven, imo, is one of the most overrated films of all time. Yes, it combats traditional Western cliches, but I think it is a poor film, specifically in regards to writing. Very good acting performance by him though.

I like almost all of these movies. I know most will vote for Unforgiven, even though Clint is a pansy in that movie. I liked the movie, just not with Clint as a wuss. I went with Heartbreak Ridge.
